Posted: 08/31/11 08:55 AM ET

The much anticipated closing performance of the British festival season is nearly upon us. Singing new songs from her upcoming multimedia album Biophilia at Bestival 2011, Bjork -- the maddest songstress in Iceland -- will be pushing the boundaries of music, digital technology and performing arts once more.

So, as the festival season draws to a close, no need to feel despondent about a musical hiatus, instead come with us on a creative pilgrimage across the waters to some of the most inspiring musical cities in the world.

Constantly pushing the boundaries, Reykjavik not only spawned Bjork's startlingly unique sound but it's also where Sigur Ros' ethereal electronica was born and of late, where front man Jónsi has carved out his solo career - pushing the boundaries of electronic performance art. Check out the live music in the café-cum-bars of the main street, Laugavegur.
