Interesting story in the Detroit News this week by political analyst Susan J. Demas discussing how Clinton might quietly pick up 50 delagates votes in Michigan.
"While all eyes were locked on Pennsylvania for the last six weeks, Clinton was quietly amassing delegates in the Wolverine State. And she was rewarded this past weekend with a significant victory at the district conventions.
This development naturally has been overshadowed by her big win Tuesday night in Pennsylvania..... because the real fight is over delegates. And Michigan remains a key battleground.
On Aug. 25, Clinton will march into the national convention in Denver stronger than most people realize, thanks to her aggressive ground game in Michigan.
Buoyed by party elder support, Clinton seems likely to capture more than 60 percent of the state's 128 pledged delegates, according to an analysis by the Michigan Information & Research Service. Including the 28 superdelegates, which lean heavily in the New York senator's favor, she could win upward of 70 percent of delegates, provided that they're seated with full voting power.
That depends on the Democratic National Committee,... There is no deal yet to seat the delegation... Clinton won 55 percent to uncommitted's 40 percent since Obama wasn't on the ballot. He has pushed for a 50-50 percent delegate split, but that proposal hasn't gained traction.

As a Michigan voter, who didn't vote because my candidate at the time (Edwards) wasnt on the ballot, I will be furious if Hillary gets those delegates seated without a redo.
You don't tell voters that their votes won't be counted, have 2 of the 3 main candidates remove their name from the ballot and then go back and count the election months later. That's not democracy.
Ah, they both took their own names off. They took their names off to kiss butt with another state. You do know that right. And why did so many of your felllow MI voters go to the polls?
And Hillary has been trying week after week for a redo. But Obama and his team of lawyers have stopped the revote in MI and FL every single time. Call his camp. and tell them that is what you want. They will be counted on way or another. You should be happy that MI is being counted.
They can't retake the vote because there were Dems who voted in the republican primary. They'd have to redo the republican primary in order to allow all the Dems to buck up and vote again. That's why a revote is not feasible - only a percentage of the Dems wouldn't be allowed to count. So how about you make the call... dial 555-bitemee and sound off.
Everyone is missing the obvious. The DNC has a game plan to address the Michigan and Florida situation that will not impact the race one bit.
Here is the plan. Once Obama gets 2024 delegates to make himself the nominee, including the 100 superdelegates he will need after the primaries are over, there will still be about 170 undeclared superdelegates left on the table. This is more than enough to offset any gains Clinton wins from seating Florida and MIchigan.
So even if Hillary nets a 100 delegates from seating Florida and Michigan, guess what? 100 more superdelegates will offset those gains. One does not need to get Clinton to agree to a 50/50 split with delegates from Florida and Michigan ... one can create a 50/50 split using the remaining undeclared superdelegates.
Don't believe the media crap about taking this to the convention. The superdelegates did the Clintons the favor of waiting until after Pennsylvania and now they are just waiting for Obama to win another state to start declaring ... This race is over, my friends.

It would be just like the Clintons to do something that calculating and predictable, but in all honesty, I don't think the party elders will nominate the candidate that finishes in second place.

If their votes were disenfranchised because of the rules being broken, they cannot have their votes counted. They should not have their votes counted because they broke the rules. Of course, Hillary Clinton aka "the first lady who tried to cover up her husband's sexual indescretions so she could get a shot at the presidency," seems to refuse to accept that rule, which makes her unacceptable as the nominee, even if she could get qualified for it, which she cannot, unless the superdelagates take the nomination from the winner, Barack Obama.
It is her personality to break rules, and the people supporting her either cannot see the failing in someone who cheats, or will not see it. These supporters are also lacking in the ethics department. I wonder, do Hillary's supporters teach their children to win even if you have to lie, steal or cheat? Did Hillary's supporters learn from their parents that it was okay to lie, steal or cheat to get what they wanted?

Obama has similar demographics to Kerry's 91% black, 45% but Obama's getting fewer latinos and asian votes. So, you leftist need to stop ignoring a huge problem. 40% percent said "not even if she's the only name on the ballot" and a number of other voters didn't vote at all. Then there's the few that said I will vote for someone who's not even in my party's primary rather than stay a Democrat and vote for her. I can see that happening all over the country in November...
Yes, the Iowa voters... the one who have delegates that actually count this year... so stupid to have agreed to the loss of delegate votes and to not campaign in the states, and then NOT spent time there currying favors.

Obama's name wasn't on the ballot because he took it off. Why would he do that in Michigan and not Florida. Could it be he knew Clinton would beat him.
None of the candidates had their names taken off the Florida ballot because the deadline for doing so had passed by the time Florida was penalized by the Democratic Party for moving their primary.
In Michigan, all of the candidates except Hillary (and I think Kucinich) had their names removed from the ballot. Mostly they did it to pander to Iowa and New Hampshire voters. Hillary was never quite clear as to why she left her name on the ballot, despite having signed an agreement that she would not take part in the Michigan primary.
