Malkin and Fox News Are Stalking Children Again

Michelle Malkin and Fox News Channel have finally blown the lid off the biggest conspiracy of our time. No, it's not the one about how the Obama administration is going to take over your computer, banish white people to FEMA camps, poison your tap water, murder your special needs children and strangle your grandmother with its government robot claws ("because they're made of metal and robots are strong").

It's a brand new conspiracy involving President Obama and an 11-year-old girl. The plot? To ask a question at a town hall meeting.

Scary. Run for your lives and all that.

Rewind to Tuesday afternoon when an 11-year-old girl asked President Obama a question about the "mean things" she observed on various protest signs outside. Malkin and other wingnuts swooped into action, investigating and exposing the girl's parents as -- shock, horror! -- supporters of the president. The girl's parents even donated some money and volunteered on the campaign.

Mind blowing, I know. It's like the Donald Sutherland scene in JFK.

But considering that there were literally millions of volunteers associated with the president's campaign, and considering that tickets for the event were available online where millions of supporters of the president typically hang out, it stands to reason that a few actual, you know, supporters would manage to acquire tickets.

Yet beyond this earth-shattering information uncovered by Malkin that Obama supporters attended an Obama event, there isn't any evidence whatsoever that the 11-year-old girl was coached or scripted by the White House. None. And, it goes without saying that Malkin and Fox News Channel are entirely ignorant of the fact that similar Bush events were revealed to be literally and entirely staged and scripted with attendees having to sign loyalty oaths.

Nevertheless, given that Republican hero Sarah Palin just recently warned everyone about attacking her kids, and given that there's no evidence of any White House meddling in this case, you would think both Malkin and Fox News Channel would back off and avoid the story, especially considering that the target was an 11-year-old child without any relationship to a public figure. Naturally, this would be the decent thing to do since there's no story here.

But decency never stopped Malkin and Fox News Channel from targeting civilian children in order to satisfy their ignorant viewers and to substitute for their utter lack of integrity, rationality and reason.

You might recall how Malkin famously stalked 12-year-old accident survivor named Graeme Frost after he appeared in a commercial supporting SCHIP, the children's health insurance program. (Incidentally, we can only assume that since they claim to hate socialized health insurance, there aren't any conservative Republicans who have received SCHIP benefits for their children. Nope. None. Right?)

And just last week on his Fox News Channel show, Glenn Beck outed an Islamic private school in Northern Virginia when the school's sole newsworthy trespass was that an application to expand its campus was approved by the local zoning board. But Beck went on an extended googly-eyed, sarcasmo rant (lots of "maybe it's just me") about the school being a de facto training camp for would-be terrorists, and even invoked September 11th imagery -- collapsed buildings and the like -- in the process. It's a grade school! Where large groups of children go for seven hours a day. And Beck risked stirring up the kneejerk vitriol of his itchy-trigger-fingered wingnut vigilante audience while also calling attention to the school's existence and general location, all because the school's zoning application was approved.

Inciting an obviously gun-toting audience to pursue adult politicians is dangerous and irresponsible enough. You may have heard that a man appeared near the president's New Hampshire town hall event carrying a loaded firearm and a placard that implied the necessary assassination of the president. Not only was he left alone with his piece and his dreams of assassination, but he was invited to appear on Hardball to talk political science later that day. The takeaway? Bring a gun, get on TV.

Today, at a town hall meeting held by Senator Cardin (D-MD), a man held up a sign reading: "Death to Obama."

Regardless of their first amendment right to assemble and to blurt out loud noises, the far-right, whether or not they're honest enough to admit it, represents the reactionary wing of American political ideology. That's a fact. They dig weaponry and they endorse violent solutions to conflicts (war, torture and the like). Contrastingly, no matter how loudly many liberals protested the Bush administration, I never heard of a liberal bringing a loaded weapon to a Bush rally. You know, because of the general message of pacifism and peace and such. Besides, as Cenk Uygur observed, if any liberal had stepped within a mile of George W. Bush while brandishing a loaded weapon. They would've been arrested -- perhaps indefinitely detained -- given a cutesy nickname like the "Shoe Bomber" and vilified by Michelle Malkin and the establishment media as a terrorist.

It's become evident this week that, unless cooler heads prevail, this modern breed of Fire-Eaters are lurching ever closer to an armed assault of some sort.

Perfect time to demagogue children, right?

As the ring leaders migrate into the arena of targeting children within the context of the increasingly hot war over healthcare reform, Malkin, Fox News and other wingnuts who orbit the right-wing satellite of crazy has evolved from being a silly, almost campy assembly of sore losers to an ignorant, dangerous posse -- a rabble of misinformed cranks who have no problem with pinning large red targets on the backs of children.

Put another way: they have identified an 11-year-old girl as a co-conspirator in this horribly misperceived socialist-fascist-Nazi-Marxist-communist-leftist-rightist-and-brown "insurgency." They have broadcast her name and her home town to every hairless wingnut freakdog who's holed up in his bunker with Glenn Beck on TV, Alex Jones on the radio and The Gimp locked inside a steamer trunk. They have defined this child as another enemy standing in the way of getting "their country back."

And she only asked the president a question. (I hasten to add that she did so with a tone far more mature than many of the easily-misled hollering goons who are upwards of 70 years her senior.)

If Fox News Channel and Michelle Malkin had any dignity or integrity left in their souls, they would personally offer to finance a private security detail to protect this girl and her family until the worst of this insanity blows over. But we probably shouldn't hold our breath. At the very least, I sincerely hope that fewer and fewer voters and politicians take these maniacs seriously, especially when it comes to healthcare reform.

Boy, is this a waste of time, like picking a tiny scab and worrying that we will bleed to death. So how about we take some time and worry about solving real issues & not hammering every little thing the right is doing. Fox News will always be Fox News, the first amendment allows that.

The first amendment also allows criticism of Fox "News," regardless of how you characterize it. Fox isn't somehow immune to market forces, including those that might be mobilized by information they otherwise wouldn't have exposure to.

1. Her name and the general area, not her town.

2. That does not negate the fact that the publicity has put both she and her family in far more danger than they would otherwise have been in..

Go suck a sour lemon, EAO.

If I were the parents of either of these children, I would execute my rights, and protect my child by first getting a restraining order aginst this "clownfest", before irreplicable damage is done to my child's emotional stability. If there is damage is done, I'd then go after the "Noise Agency", for hounding my child, who is a private citizen. I would also simultaneously organize a group of parents to fight those who stalk and seek to do harm to our children. I would become their worst nightmare, because I would make sure "what's good for goose be good enough for the gander".

Fox won't show all the right wing nut-jobs making their kids hold up swastika signs or signs that read "don't kill my grama" Some of those kids were in strollers and probably couldn't read what they were holding! What's funny is that kids love President Obama-they just do I haven't seen a past president spark so much interest from kids. I was at a store and a little boy yelled out "Mommy it's Obama" pointing to a greeting card, the mom gave it and bought it for him.

Healthcare for Congress is part of their job benefit (as voted in by them). It has been suggested that Congress go on the same healthcare program as any healthcare they put through for American public (of course, they will commit to this - wonder why?).

The Boston Globe (extremely liberal paper) investigated this girl and printed the information about her.
Mr. Cesca, I would suggest you calm down and stop blasting away before you know all the facts.
I was a far left MA liberal for many years, but got fed up with the lies, personal attacks and blatant misrepresentations made by liberal politicians and the liberal media - and abandoned the Democratic Party. This article is just another example of why.

Michelle Malkin ONLY attracts extremists, by pure intention.

Was raised in very liberal family in MA, Dad was very involved in John Kennedy getting elected to Senate and Presidency, family went to Inauguration - lived in MA for 35 yrs.and I was registered Dem for 20 years, and voted party line most of those years - so there. You can believe me or not - I don't believe in liberals, so I guess we are even.
The Boston Globe is not liberal paper - you must be kidding? You don't know what you are talking about. Obviously you are not from MA. Boston Herald at least was middle of road, and Globe and Herald had ongoing rivalry for years.
I suppose peope like Carville and Olbermann don't attract extremists.

We shall have health insurance reform. We shall start cleaning up the financial institutions that almost brought this country to its knees. We shall have Barack Obama as our President and Michelle Obama as our First Lady.

Anyone who doesn't like the fact that their guy lost the last election can work for the election of their candidate of choice next time around.

What they SHALL NOT do is nullify our legal election or silence the pro-healthcare reform majority with their thug tactics, propaganda and lies.

If you really want to express how those evil Republicans are a bad for America's children, can't you just point out the former Congressman Foley? Or, have you simply beaten that story down too far to continue to pursue your ideological agenda? Ms. Malkin and Mr. Beck are no threat against our precious children, they simply differ from your views. Yet you smear them with irresponsible tactics, tactics which shall soon backfire against your cause. More and more Americans have had it with your style.
Please, find the time to make an as* out of me. I welcome your fair intellect. It is certain to be something more constructive than simply referring to an opposer as a hater, now wouldn't it be?
Keep up the partisan reporting, sir. You and your media-bias shall make a huge difference in November 2010!
05:22 AM on 08/15/2009
Malkin and Beck are in it for the money, good old fashioned Republican greed. They are misleading, deceitful, and bigoted and right at home on Faux News. Their whining antics and supposed "high moral ground" bare witness to that truth. They are the poster children for media-bias.

Now, Beck was quite clear when he said he "didn't think Eugenics was coming" yet he was considerate enough to show a Nazi propaganda film, just to educate the uneducated. That put him right up there with Joseph Goebbels. What a role model to aspire to.
11:09 AM on 08/15/2009
Speaking of misleading and deceitful (not to mention just plain nuts), have you any comments on Matthews and Olberman (just for starters)?
I guess it depends on whose ox is being gored, doesn't it?
12:22 PM on 08/15/2009
Good old Democratic greed - Matthews (5 mil), Olbermann ($7.5 mil), Sawyer, Couric ($15 mil - highest paid in TV journalism), Walters, Lauer, Blitzer, Cooper - - all paid millions.
and then there are Gore, Pelosi, Edwards, Kennedy, Soros, Huffington, Kerry, Dean, Corzine, Houghton, Kohl, Jay Rockefeller, Ferraro, Jane Harmon, DeLauro, Greenberg, Carville, Clintons, etc. - and also Obama is worth millions (about 14 mil - he took $500,000 advance for a book deal before taking oath as Pres., as you can not do that once you are in the Oval Office).
It sounds like you have a personal problem with people making money. Hey, that's capitalism - if you can write a book that sells or get paid a high salary as commentator or journalist, good for you. It's the market place that determines what someone gets paid. Greed is money received through ill means (you know, like Williams with the money in the freezer), not money earned.. It's a great country - lots of opportunities to make money -so, stop worrying about what everyone else makes; get going!
07:45 AM on 08/15/2009
Malkin and Beck discredit themselves everytime they speak. Witness Malkin with egg on her face a couple of weeks ago on "This Week" with George Stephanopoulus, when she made assertions about the alleged disincentives to find work of unemployment insurance on it's recipients. The "Roundtable", Republican and Democrat alike looked at her like she had just farted in an elevator. It was a moment to treasure.
