Clint Eastwood showed the country's mudslinging politicians how it should be done in his groundbreaking ad for Chrysler for Detroit. Here's what real leadership sounds and looks like!
Will Mitt, Newt, and Congressional members please watch Clint Eastwood's inspirational ad that was full of the plain spoken empathy and optimism about America's future that they should be speaking out about! Clint, couldn't have said any better, what 99 percent of Americans have been feeling.
"It's half time in America too. People are out of work and they're hurting. They're all wondering what they're going to do to make a comeback and they're all scared because this isn't a game," explains Clint to all the Super Bowl viewers. "They almost lost everything."
That is so true. Clint, in this two-minute commercial, says exactly what politicians should have been saying ever since the Great Recession started in the fall of  2007.
Instead of announcing that they don't care about the poor or accusing President Obama of setting off class warfare -- Americans need to hear that someone in power, or who wants to be in power, feels their pain.
And that they CARE and that they can see a way through these tough times to a better future for all Americans, especially those who are hurting the most.
"This country can't be knocked out by one punch. We get right back up... we find a way through. All that matters is what's ahead. How do we come from behind? How do we come together and how do we win?" Clint says, as the commercial cuts to the faces of non-celebrity Americans. Americans who don't have great haircuts, BOTOX or designer outfits.
Now, Clint was hired to do this commercial for Detroit and the car makers based there. And he points out how Motor City is now up and fighting again. Yes, after almost all the American car makers went bankrupt and were saved by a successful federal government bailout.
A bailout that no one seems to credit the federal government for - not at least any of the squabbling politicians fighting for power now.
But Clint in his presidential manner, rises above all that and says what we ALL need to hear.

Lincoln Mitchell: The Republican Tale of Two Commercials
Rove was probably angry because a commercial with that message had black people in it.
Sure, it saved the auto industry...for the auto manufacturers. For the middle class men and women whose labor built the industry, not so much.
The deal decimated the UAW's members. At the insistence of Obama's car czar, the laborer's pay was reduced, starting pay for new laborer's was reduced, and a no strike clause was included in the loan stipulations. If any worker decided to strike, the loan was forfeited. There was additional language that really gutted the worker's rights.
Yes, the UAW leadership agreed to this. But then, ever since Wagner, union leadership has been nothing but a political body looking out for themselves instead of the worker.
Oh wait, I forgot: your paycheck is sacrosanct, while everyone else's is unjustified.
Ms. Fuller, as usual, your observations are incredibly superficial.
Truth in Advertising, Clint?
Bonnie, this article gives no mention of credit, where credit is due, to the democrats and mainly President Obama who supported the auto bailout-the orkers, when less than 25% of the public wanted the car companies bailed out and no, none, na-da, republicans were for. This is one of President Obama's greatest successes! Whoo-hoo! Obama 2012!!!
