WATCH: It's Time to Clear Your Fear of Success

Posted: 06/18/2012 8:37 am

I was told years ago that fear of failure isn't really what stops most folks -- it's the fear of success... and I've come to believe that. Sure, we tend to be more aware of our fear of failing -- the pain involved with that is usually more tangible, the images more vivid. But that's part of the unconscious mind's brilliant way of keeping us from seeing the real fear. Success has all kinds of repercussions: higher expectations, possible jealousy from others and, the most dreaded of all, change. Failing seems like a cakewalk in comparison. But you deserve success, and the world deserves the difference you will make. I hope this video helps you start clearing those blocks.

As with any of my tapping videos, this is an abbreviated process for releasing fear. Some folks may find their fear dissolves after just one tapping session, but for others, it will take some repetition, bringing the discomfort down little by little each time. (Still others may uncover specific issues that are best addressed directly with a wellness practitioner.) In any event, this brief video should help at least take the edge off the discomfort, freeing you up to enjoy life much more. Let us know how it helped you!

Have a specific fear you'd like to see featured in a future "Tap Out Your Fears" vlog? Comment below, or tweet us all about it @HealthyLiving using the hashtags #becomingfearless and #tapoutfear. If you tweet, you will automatically be entered into Toyota Corolla's Most Fearless Tweet Contest! (Click here for the Official Rules.)

Tapping can sometimes bring up long-buried emotions, which is why I always ask folks to take full responsibility for their own well-being before tapping. For more information about that, please read this disclaimer.

Until next time, feel free to tap along with any of the many videos I have on YouTube or the many recordings I have at www.TapToFeelGood.com.

Maybe if this guy didn't spend his life navel gazing and stupidly tapping parts of his body and instead focused on a plan and execution, might actually be successful...

I learned at a early age to not "fear" success by following the coaching of the late John Wooden and his UCLA 12 time National Championship basketball teams. I learned that you play the game to win!...whether it is a sporting contest are the "game" of life.
I followed the career of 3 time Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali who did not wait for others validation of his greatness. I learned not to "fear" success from Marcus Anderson my next door neighbor in the early 1960's who won 3 consecutive National Golden Gloves Championships and went on to have successul professional boxing career with a 26 and 4 record.

The world is full of talented people who are not successful...preparation, a belief in ones own abilities, being a visionary, determination, persistence, and perseverance are traits one needs to be successful and to realize not everyone will be cheering for your success. Succeed anyway!

I just want to work. I have a site I use, I got a reply back that one felt I couldn't watch her cat! What kind of skill set do you need to cat sit! I am not sure what to think. I have no criminal history.. etc, and I am not sure what to think..

Cat sitting takes a special person, truly. If the cat is not comfy with the novelty of the "new" sitter it could flee--fight or flight syndrome. Or, it could hide, not eat, or turn to other behaviors. If I could find the perfect sitter I'd be in Europe ASAP. Please respond if u fit the bill. :)

Are we sure this guy doesn't have OCD or tourettes? I have a girlfriend with one and a brother with the other, and watching this video makes me feel like I'm watching someone in the middle of a ritual or tic.

I don't disagree that this occurs. But I have known many people who grew up with such a fear of failure that they were extremely reluctant to try anything new. They would rather fail to try than to try and fail.

Is it me? I feel uneasy watching all the tapping. Affirmations are cool. But the tap, tap, tap...I need to go brew a cup of chamomile tea.

I agree with that fully. I think that if some people become successful then they'll be under pressure to keep replicating that success and then have the fear of what if they can't. Then everyone will find out that they're a fraud. It's really a vicious cycle. Without some failure you are guaranteed to never find any success.

A fear of success? You are kidding me, aren't you? I would gladly cut off some body parts to be successful in the business world. And I am NOT kidding. IF ANYONE IS HIRING AND WANTS SOMEONE WHO WILL WORK HIS BEHIND OFF FOR YOU, THEN LET ME KNOW----I AM YOUR MAN!!!!
