Trump Receives More Votes Than Clinton in New Hampshire, While Sanders Crushes Them Both

Tuesday night, I reported that Bernie Sanders had become the first candidate from either party to win 60% of a state's vote, defeating Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, 60.4% to 38%. But what's even more impressive than the percentage of votes that Sanders won is the actual number of votes that he received.

Sanders and Trump were the only two candidates in New Hampshire to surpass 100,000 votes. Trump garnered 100,406, while Sanders raked in 151,584.

Clinton, by contrast, failed to crack 100K, leaving New Hampshire with 95,252 votes and a disappointing second place finish. In other words, Clinton not only received far fewer votes than Sanders, but also performed worse than the Republican frontrunner. Clinton's defeat will likely weaken her electability argument, especially as polls continue to show Sanders matching up better against leading Republicans.
