Paint your nails a light color and wait for it to dry, then dip your nails in rubbing alcohol for about 10 seconds, take them out and press newspaper onto each nail for 15 ish seconds and top it off with a clear coat.

Pros: Fun, DIY cred

As a retired licensed manicurist - all I can say is: What in the WORLD can young girls, teens, young women and, some 'slightly over the hill' gals, be thinking when putting this "stuff" (nice enough?) on their nails! It is in no way attractive to anyone is it (?) Perhaps old-fashioned am I - but much prefer the nice clean cuticle line, well filed-buffed, and clean, finger tip length nail with either a plain french manicure of even some of this year's notably bolder hue's! (If you can pull it off that is!) This slide is nothing more than a showing of poor cared for nails IMHO!

So is buffing good for nails or not? No polish will stay on mine. None.

In my experience I think buffing is extremely good for nails. It stimulates the blood flow under the nail, (in the nail bed), as well as putting a nice soft shine on the nail itself. It also serves to eliminate those 'less than smooth' nails. DO NOT use anything except that which is designed to buff your nail's or you could wind up damaging them. As to your particular problem? Are you soaking them first in a warm, mild, and sudsy solution first? This is an absolute must in any manicure - not only to soften the cuticles, clean under the nail istelf, BUT to clean all of the oil off of the nail before applying a base coat. IMO, a base coat is a must, as well as top coating. Allow plenty of time for 'natural' drying! I am not a fan of putting your hand's under any kind of ultra violet, or any other light, for a "quick dry" as is so popular with having faux nails done and everyone in such a rush these days. Hope I was of help to you....Have a blessed day.

Yes you are old fashion. These are trends and they look great. My hubby cannot stand the bland french tip. He likes bold colors and interesting designs.

So you do what your hubby likes, but call her old-fashion (sic)? Hm.

Goodness! No problem here - to each their own. If you thiink they're complimentary and are conducive to your life style; then by all means wear it! (Particularly if you are trying to please your spouse I might add). I was speaking for my former clientele and their respective taste's. (Only retired just recently) They, not me, chose what color's to wear or not to wear. It was just my job to take care of their hand's and nail's, and that to the best of my ability. For the most part, my client's were business women and their respective job's called for a more subtle style and color or lack thereof. By the same token when going out on special occasion's - they oft times chose a brighter color. I also did my own free-hand design's, and for the most part, on faux nail's per their dictates and they were pleased. (This, I would have to assume, since they were steady, pre-booked 'regular's' and this was my living). Sometimes I received call's when they would chip, crack, break, etc., and needed repaired "yesterday'! (Whether faux or natural). I was 'old-fashioned' too ,if you will, in that I never used a Dremal to "sand down, trim off, etc.," when doing faux nail's. I did it by hand and with the appropriate board's. I alway's gave very nice hand/finger massages with warm Almond oil and still managed to maintain my rates.... Have a blessed day!
