Brooklyn Decker was born in Kettering, Ohio, on August 3, 1987. Her family eventually moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was discovered in a shopping mall. After signing with Charlotte-based agency Evolution Models, she landed her first gig in 2002, as the face of prom dress designer Mauri Simone. In 2004 Brooklyn moved to New York City full time at the age of 18 and signed with Marilyn Model Management, who represents the model to this day.
