The only thing focused on here is Dobson's wealth as far as I am concerned.. I personally, as a Christian, have very serious doubts about this man and his organization. I believe that the Christian community is being used by this group.. i also believe that this group is nothing but a Republican sham as pointed out in David Kuo's book ..Tempting Faith.. about how Bushy chumped the Christians.. primarily the Christian leaders.

interesting to note that the focus on the family guy said the gay agenda was in the public school system agenda...yet, one might conclude that with all the problems of catholic-sponsored and documented pedophilia that private catholic schools would be more "gay-agenda driven"...but no it's those pesky public ones...

It saddens me that Jesus's message of love and acceptance has been pushed aside by hatred and homophobia. I get the feeling that if Jesus were to return today, the last place He'd want to be seen would be with "His" followers who have corrupted His lessons and values.

ok, so bullying is ok because it's anti-gay? and cute furry animals encourage gay-ness? Focus on the Family is really stretching this time.

So wait, now bullying is christian?
I guess I missed the parable about beating up someone to boost your self esteem...

So they don't want us to stop their stupid kids from practicing their god-given right to pick on others? How do they sleep at night? How do they make their mouths say things like "Watch out for anti-bullying talk"? I'm an educator and I agree that the aggressive stupidity of these folks is on the rise. The earth is not 6,000 years old and it is not okay to pick on people because you don't like them. Say and do what you want at home but in the public sphere there is reality and there are standards. Period. I hope one of them calls me out on it. And just because this clip irritated me so much, I'm going to include more furry animals on the papers I send home.
01:04 AM on 08/29/2010
It's about time someone outed those cute furry animals! Gay!

FoF sure knows a lot about what gays "force" on people.

I wonder how they figured it out.

I am waiting for the day when all James Dobson's "research" on gays reveals a little something-something about him.

You would think they could get more 'mileage' out of fighting 'corporate greed'...
There is plenty to be scared of and there is tons of it around!
On the plus side 'greed' one of the things their lord preached against!!

All I know is that there are obviously no gay makeup andhairdressers working for Focus on the Family. Those two people inthis video look like the two newscasters in the "Batman" movieAFTER The Joker announced that all cosmetic products had beentainted. Couldn't Fox News' Gretchen Carlson at least lend thatwoman some hairspray? The message that I got from this is thatFocus on the Family is FOR bullying because gay and gay supportivepeople are against it. And the "furry animals" thing --- how dumbdoes Focus on the Family think its audience is, anyway?

Thanks. Next thing that'll happen is that we'll see Gretchen Carlson doing "Save the Childhood" type fundraisers using that Focus on the Family anchorwoman as an example of how the Christian Right can't afford good cosmetic products, so send your donations now ....

Hilarious video - but also alarming.

I'm a high school English teacher. I teach argument to seniors. They can choose their issue and position. I teach them how to support their claims with CREDIBLE evidence. Until this last year, I've never had a problem with my right wing students.

This last year however, this crop seemed armed with a disdain for science and actual facts - even the US Constitution unlike any time I've seen in my career.

They would openly bash gays especially. I'd find myself reaching back into the recesses of my past knowledge to shut down all the vile crap they were spewing.

Now, I could have simply shut them up for being disruptive. Most would. Some of my other students wish I would have. But the lesson I was trying to teach was that they would see me as an oppressor and become more galvanized in their position. They would ultimately have won.

Of the five little haters, I managed to get 3 of them to at least come back to a more moderate view. They still didn't want gay marriage. They still thought being gay was a choice, but they at least were giving up on a lot of their more extreme ideas and gave up trying to spew their ignorance to others. Most importantly, they began to recognize the disrespect they were showing towards their peers.

A start. They didn't see me as trying to sell an agenda. Just reason.

I'm with you. I teach freshman comp at a community college and have the same problem. I've never invoked the a priori fallacy so much in my life as in the last couple of years.

I do my best not to preach, and I rigorously avoid telling them that their beliefs are "wrong", but I am damn sure going to call them out if they confuse their beliefs with provable truths and attempt to claim that logic supports them.
11:59 AM on 08/27/2010
I can only imagine what your "provable truths" look like.

You one of those who don't believe in dolphins swim in rivers.

They say gay people are only 1% - 2% of the populabion. Yet they exert such frightening influence. Don't bother trying to reconcile that; their target constituency probably reads at a third grade level, if at all, and, intellectually, rate as toddlers, at best.
03:37 PM on 08/30/2010
We're really dangerous.

That, and they can't lynch any more.

Gay comedy got to be slipping when Brian's cousin is funniest gay on TV. How about a comedy where straight and gay (guys or gals) have a relationship based on using each other's insights to score? I am so off topic.

Focus on the Family is one of those "Christian" organizations that think it's okay to hate people unlike themselves. Jesus would weep.
