Haiti Stands With Japan

Posted: 03/12/11 11:02 PM ET

The news of the terrible earthquake in Japan has effected us all. My friend David Darg and I have been working in Haiti since the earthquake here last January. When news of the Japan disaster was coming in we were at practice with our little league team made up entirely of displaced children. The kids stopped playing to hear the news. They immediately understood the pain that Japan is now facing and all wanted to help but felt like they had nothing to give. They wanted their little brothers and sisters in Japan to know that they are standing side by side and sending them strength. This is their message.

I'm amazed at how little these boys have and are able to feel that much empathy for others. That was a beautiful testament to the nature of Haitian people.

So, when can we expect to see pictures of looters in Japan? Are the Haitians still asking the world to clear the debris of the earthquake for them?

Interesting that Blackwater (XE) isn't required in Japan, but they were required to restore order during Katrina.

When empathy strikes in our heart and soul, we are ONE with all...we will never be the same.

This is very inspiring..I think we all want to help. I live by the ocean and was evacuated..met at the high school with many Mexican-American families..the children were worried about the "salami" that might hit here..I think it would be great to collect video messages (as well as money, supplies etc.) from around the world for the people in Japan and I think China was also hit with an earthquake. mg
