The Global Vote

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Dear World Leaders,

The recent polls show that at least 80% of the world wants Obama to be the next president of the United States. Here is your chance to chime in and confirm to the American Public that this is true and explain why. We have a global economy now and there is every reason why your vote should at least be considered. This is an important moment in history for all of us and you all have access to the internet. Please blog now and show the citizens of our this very divided fearful country that there is a hope for global unity by choosing the candidate that represents real hope, peace, and effective change.

Thank you!

Mr. Winston:

You write as if the American voter should just capitulate to world opinion. That may not be the best basis for voting for the next President. I may vote for Obama, but never because outsiders want that vote. (How would the French, Germans, Thais, etc. feel if it appeared we looked to influence their otherwise free elections?)

PS: As to GWB, he clearly has squandered his presidency, but I do not believe it was for lack of "mental capacity". He totally squandered the opportunity, but it was because he surrounded himself with lackeys, not any absence of mental capacity. While it makes you feel good to express this view, in fact, you are far off the mark. I would hope that in future essays, you can express a more cogent and thoughtful position.

To me the whole choice is a no brainer.....yet I know that deep down ....ln November millions of morons will be out there voting for McCain! You can not and must not EVER underestimate the stupidity of the American public! I've lived in America my whole life and I am no longer even surprised by the number of stupid people I meet everday !

I live in Hong Kong, and when Bush won in 2004, my entire office was practically in mourning. A mix of Americans, English, Australians, Chinese and New Zealanders.

This year, everyone wants Barack Obama to win - not because he's a celebrity or cool - but because he clearly has the intelligence and judgment to tackle problems that the President will face. The experience arguments are flawed - GWB has been President 8 years. That doesn't make him good at the job - he never had the mental capacity to actually perform the tasks required.

Please America - you've screwed up the vote twice. Three strikes and you're out - we're going to stop treating you seriously if it happens again.

Sorry, most of the American People are not interested in having other governments pick our president. One of Obama's biggest mistakes was taking his campaign to Europe. To call the American people stupid is a very good way to defeat any candidate. Articles like this, and endorsements from the likes of the "Hollywood elite" confirm I am making the right choice!

I'm so sorry. I don't know what is wrong with some of my fellow Americans. In 2004 I was absolutely stunned that they'd put him in office again. I hold my breath this year because his replacement is actually worse and his sidekick can see Russia from Alaska and that gives her world vision. I could cry.

Hopefully if we keep donating and talking and praying we'll come out of this with a President Obama and you won't have to apply the 3 strikes law to us.
