As much as we'd like to be the one who goes all out for Halloween -- full face paint, crazy costume, the works -- we just aren't. We'd rather take the holiday as an opportunity to switch up our standard beauty look and pay tribute to our favorite beauty icons. When else can we walk around with a penciled-on beauty mark or eye shadow up to our hairline without having to explain ourselves? Scroll through for nine beauty icons you can easily be for Halloween!

Sophia Loren

Voluminous hair, a killer cat eye, and full lips--the glamour of Sophia Loren makes a perfect Halloween costume for anyone who prefers to take a pretty approach to the holiday. All you need is a precision-tipped liquid eyeliner like Bliss's On the Line Liquid Eyeliner ($24), a good volumizing mascara, and your trusty brow pencil to complete the eyes. Put the finishing touches on the makeup with matte skin and slightly over-drawn lips. For the hair, use mousse. Start your blowout with Living Proof's Full Thickening Mousse ($26) and finish it with dry shampoo for even more lift at the roots.

Grace Jones

For those willing to be a little more daring on Halloween, enter Grace Jones. The singer/model/actress never shied away from color. Hot-pink lips? Fuchsia cheeks? Purple eye shadow? Check, check, and check. Try blending MAC's Eyeshadow ($16) in Stars 'N' Rockets from the crease of your eye socket to your hairline to re-create the look. The brighter, the better on the lips and cheeks. Try pairing Urban Decay's Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush ($26) in Quickie with your hottest-pink lip gloss.

Frida Kahlo

We love you, Cara Delevingne, but Frida Kahlo is the ultimate bold-browed beauty. Throw on a colorful dress, put some flowers in your bun or braids, go overboard with the eyebrow pencil, and you've got a Frida Kahlo masterpiece. Exaggerate the shape of your brows with a dark pencil, like Nudestix's Eyebrow Stylus Pencil and Gel ($24). Then, add warm blush and a bright lip for Frida-inspired makeup. For a smooth, shiny updo, finish your milkmaid braids or braided bun with Aveda's Smooth Infusion Styling Cream ($26). Then, raid the nearest floral arrangement to accessorize your 'do.

Audrey Hepburn

Also a viable option for a strong brow moment? Audrey Hepburn. Straight-across, full eyebrows; long, curled eyelashes; and an angular Cupid's bow are all you need to transform yourself into the classic beauty. Try Utowa's Eyelash Curler ($22) with Maybelline's Lash Discovery Mascara ($8) for lashes that fit the bill. To get those thick, defined eyebrows, apply Anastasia Beverly Hills's Duo Brow Powder ($23) with Smith Cosmetics' 211 Brow Brush ($18).

Brigitte Bardot

This blond bombshell is always a source of beauty inspiration. What better excuse than Halloween to tease up your hair, pile on the black eyeliner, and play up a peachy-nude pout à la Brigitte Bardot? Just smudge black eyeliner (like Clinique's Cream Shaper for Eyes, $17) all along your top and bottom lash lines and into the crease to get those playful Bardot eyes. Keep the brows and skin natural, and use a pinkish- or peach-nude lipstick on your lips. We like Kat Von D's Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21) in Noble.

Diana Ross

Diana Ross is a beauty girl's dream for Halloween. All through the '70s and '80s, the superstar wasn't afraid to play up her eyes, lips, and cheeks (yes, all at once). Hot pinks, vibrant reds, bright blues, and rich purples were all go-tos. Pick your favorite combination, throw on some statement earrings, and make your hair as big as possible, and you've got Diana Ross. We happen to love this moody purple-on-moody purple version of the songstress. Try Giorgio Armani's Ecstasy Lacquer ($38) in Vertigo and Burberry Beauty's Eye Colour Cream ($30) in Damson.

Cindy Crawford

Finally an excuse to pencil on a Cindy Crawford mole! Grab your Bliss Where There's Smoke Long Wear Eyeliner ($22) in Double Shot, and dot on the perfect Cindy mole just above the right inner corner of your lips. Keep your brows thin and dark, and take your pick of lip colors. You can choose a frosted nude with a touch of visible lip liner, a classic red, or a very '90s brick-brown lipstick, depending on which Cindy you go for (check out her most iconic looks here). Just make sure you've created plenty of volume at the roots. We suggest Alterna's Bamboo Volume 48-Hour Sustainable Volume Spray ($25).

Marilyn Monroe

If blond curls are more your speed, bring that mole up an inch onto your right cheek and start channeling Marilyn Monroe. Give your winged eyeliner a downturned angle, round out your Cupid's bow with red lip liner, and make sure your skin glows with Hourglass's Ambient Lighting Powder ($45) in Diffused Light. For the curls, you'll need plenty of strong-hold hair spray and a set of hot rollers, like Conair's Ion Shine Hair Setter ($27).

Selena

Selena's defining style characteristic was probably her affinity for bedazzled bustiers. On the beauty front, it was definitely those red lips. Choose a warm red, like Charlotte Tilbury's K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick ($32) in Love Bite, but start with a slightly darker lip liner underneath. Defined eyes and sculpted cheekbones complete the look. To show off cheekbones like the '90s pop sensation's, concentrate Jouer's Sunswept Mattifying Powder Bronzer ($30) in the hollows of your cheeks.
