Calvin Gipson has directed a Free Meals program that served over 6 million free nutritious meals to the poor and homeless; 75,000 free holiday meals; 35,000 free grocery bags and distributed 21,000 toys to children of poor families. The Free Meals program was featured in the Oscar nominated film, The Pursuit of Happyness starring actor Will Smith.

Calvin has served on an advisory board to the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and has provided leadership in various non-profits including president of the San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade and Celebration producing four parades including the 30th anniversary event; president of Frameline – San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival overseeing the 25th anniversary celebration; served as a board member of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus; the speaker's bureau for Community United Against Violence; and steering committee for ANSWER - Act Now To Stop War and End Racism. He now resides in his native Denver, Colorado as a professional speaker.
