Is the McCain campaign borrowing from Hillary Clinton?

Consider the similarity between these statements -- one from Hillary herself last March as she battled Obama in Ohio, and the other from McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds yesterday as he responded to Obama's speech before 200,000 fans in Berlin.

First Hillary:

"Senator McCain will bring a lifetime of experience to the campaign, I will bring a lifetime of experience and Senator Obama will bring a speech that he gave in 2002."

Then McCain's spokesman:

"While Barack Obama took a premature victory lap today in the heart of Berlin, proclaiming himself a 'citizen of the world,' John McCain continued to make his case to the American citizens who will decide this election ... John McCain has dedicated his life to serving, improving and protecting America. Barack Obama spent an afternoon talking about it."

There is one other thing she needs to do if she is going to move on and behave honorably toward the Democratic Party and its chosen nominee- she needs to release her delegates. She hasn't done that yet. As long as she holds on to her committed delegates she is sending a silent but clear signal to her followers to continue their mischief because she might make more of her own. Hillary is no different from most other politicians in the fact you have to watch what she does, not what she says.

This is from a friend of mine, a writer and poltical strategist, who, like so many, could not quite figure out how to reply.

"I couldn't find the right way to comment, but at the time of her attacks many of us were criticizing her precisely for providiing McCain materials for his commercials against Obama"

Well, he was definitely using the kitchen sink strategy during Obama's trip. However, it was significantly more shameful and significantly less effective. "I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine. Senator McCain, you're no Hillary Clinton."

HillaryClintonver.3.1 will be as dismal for Daddy Warbucks as for the original campaigner. Unfortunately "Washington Insiders" haven't learned to compete with a candidate like Barack. It's so hard for them to fight fair with truth. They keep struggling to make sense of it all. It's a movement that is happening.

The one thing Hillary and her surrogates are forgetting is if she plans on making Obama lose now, those who support him will not support her in 2012, so she will lose and lose big. Can you imagine the backlash against her from all different sides. Man she is only digging the Clinton name a grave if she allows this stuff to continue.

Democrats still havent healed from thos vicious attacks from Hillary. I personally believe this party has the potential to be damage for another 20 year or possible debacle of the whole party. If John McCain wins, it'll be because the Democrats were divided. The Democrats are divided because of the Nuclear campaign that Hillary ran. She has attracted a constituency with campaigning solely on sexism, she used race to separate and she praised a Rep. over her fellow Democrat. I guarantee you this will be the year remembered for the Democratic party conceded 20-30 yrs to the Republicans if John McCain wins. This is what I am most worried about. Unfortunately, the PUMAs followed their divisive leader and set a precedent of how to separate a party. This is a very dangerous thing considering the values most democrats hold dearly to their hearts. In the end, Democrats will sacrifice their families, beliefs and values over foolish pride. I know I've personally had enough of it. Barack has treated Hillary with respect and class during the Primary.

"Is the McCain campaign borrowing from Hillary Clinton?"

Of course they are, which is exactly what what expected. And which is one of the reasons pigs will fly before she gets the VP pick.

My hunch is that Hillary doesn't want the VP slot--not that Obama would offer it to her--because she believes Obama can't win and she would rather have a clean run at the presidency in 2012. She would not want to be the John Edwards of 2012.

Question for you. This coalition of disgruntled fundraisers, the groups obsessed with overturning the convention, etc. Do you think that this is just an accidental aftermath of the long primary, or (at the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist) do you think that she did it on purpose? She was unusually brutal to a fellow Democrat in trying to plant ideas for John McCain to use and one result of the long primary was resentment allowed to ferment til it's about ready to bottle and cork.

Forgive me if this sounds paranoid.....but do you think she did it on purpose in hopes of making the idea that he can't win come true?

Sure they are. She heedlessly planted comments like unexploded bombs. We can look forward to watching the Republican's detonating them all through the Fall. I think it never occurred to her that anyone would vote for anyone but her so what the heck.

Yes he is...................Hillary knew exactly what she was doing during the primaries. I swear Mccain and her were in contact throughout. Hillary now needs to come out and blast McCain on his lower than low negitivity. And also tell her Hillraisers and PUMAS to get over themselves. Hillary is not a woman of her word if she doesnt do both the above stated things. We wont forget this if she doesnt denounce and regect McCain and get her hillraisers and pumas to see what really is at stake here.
