Just What Does "Moral Threat" Mean?

Yesterday, Alternet.org asked, Is Bush Leading Us to Nuclear War?

'While the United States demands that other countries end their nuclear programs, the Bush administration is busy planning a new generation of nuclear weapons known as "Complex 2030."

Only days before the fifth anniversary of September 11, President George W. Bush addressed military officers in Washington to warn that nuclear-armed terrorists could "blackmail the free world and spread their ideologies of hate and raise a moral threat to America."'

Who the hell is this warmonger trying to pose as a man of peace? Yes, I'm referring to the President of the United States. Admittedly, he's given me so much blog-fodder over the last few years that I could fill a library. Now, though, I'm exhausted writing about his autocratic, arrogant behavior and wish to move on to other issues that merit attention. Yet, Bush continues to take his dictatorial attitude up a notch making me wonder if this is how it happens. The "it" in this case is "defaced democracy." While the checks go unbalanced and the United States loses what had once been praiseworthy reputation, Americans are distracted trying to stay ahead of the game. Bills need to be paid, health care insurance continues to rise, bombs are exploding, and at day's end, we just want to escape in front of the television and be entertained. However, in between all that, key phrases, formed to sound reasonable, pour from the President's mouth. Al Gore responds to this in his book The Assault on Reason, blaming not only the administration, but the media, as well. He's not the first to say it, but tragically, not many are listening.

Yet the question "is Bush leading us to nuclear war" demands an answer. We need to take a closer look at the president's words, which are nothing more than padded, fear-conducive phrases. Just what does it mean to "raise a moral threat to America?" I wonder how many times the president has used the word "moral" in his speeches. When he was running for the high office the first time, the word had impact. After all, President Clinton brought immorality into the White House and Bush was not going to let Americans forget it. Yet, this president has used the word "moral" as instigation for war, one that has destroyed the lives of millions of people. Kind of makes a blowjob innocuous, wouldn't you say?

In the meantime, Bush continues to spew those three words, "war on terror," which is nothing but a falsehood. The climate has changed, and I'm not just talking about global warming. The climate I'm referring to is one that has been altered by the present administration and the storm clouds are about to open and rain down more hate here in America, thanks to a moral threat, otherwise known as President George W. Bush.
