Life as a Syrian Refugee

This week, World Refugee Day will be marked. It's easy to forget, among the statistics, that refugees are ordinary people like you and me, often unwittingly caught up in events beyond their control. More than one million Syrians have now been forced to leave their country because of conflict; with millions more displaced inside Syria.

They need our help now, and they will need our help for years to come.

When I was working in Jordan's Zaatari refugee camp, I met Lekaa', a Syrian refugee, who became a friend. She's eight months pregnant and faces an uncertain future.
