LACMA has many councils, clubs and boards you can join, but the Avant-Garde is of particular interest to us here at The Truffle. Set up as a feeder group for 20 and 30 year olds to move onto Board Trustee positions or spots on the Acquisitions Council one day, the Avant-Garde is treated by LACMA as the next generation of philanthropy in Los Angeles.
I have been to a few Avant-Garde events including a tea and tour for the recent Renoir exhibit in the BCAM last spring, on top of a private party the night before with LACMA's President Circle and other major patrons of the arts.
This weekend the Avant-Garde is at it again and will be the cherry on top of Lynda & Stewart Resnick's immense Gala to open their new Resnick Pavilion, which they singlehandedly built with the help of architect Renzo Piano, who also built the BCAM in '08 and intended this addition to serve as the "Baby Piano" to the BCAM's grand ...
