I actually saw a woman on t.v. near tears at the thought of her child (a five year old) being "forced" to watch Obama's speech. I mean, WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!!!!

Personally, I think it is UNPATRIOTIC to suggest to children that they not listen to a speech by the President of the United States.

But then, most of these people don't see Barack Obama as the President; they see a black man they think is a Communist Muslim (a contradiction in terms, but that may well be beyound their comprehension). That's all they see. And being ignorant, they don't like it. Too bad. Grow up.

As I picked up my first grader yesterday I was surprised to hear the fourthgraders chanting "Seize the
means of production" as they waited for the bus. My little boy greeted me as Comrade Pop Pop and

It is said that the best way to deal with hateful and idiotic people is with laughter. Mostly because it is the only way to keep from crying. But Carolita, I think your cartoon is very apropo in explaining how stupid it is to keep children from listening to the president tell children to work hard and stay in school. Anyone who opposes the President of the United States to give a speech to our children who are our future, to stay in school and work hard, is IGNORANT.. These are probably the same people who allow their children to watch the lunacy taking place in town halls. Regardless of your political party, everyone should be proud to have their children listen to the President encourage education! How sad that these very same parents and teachers who oppose it, are making their children feel left out and confused as to why they cannot watch this, and other kids in their class can. How sad that these people obviously have no communication skills or maturity to put their differences aside and want their children to know who the President of the United States is, and have them be encouraged to stay in school...

To all you parents, teachers, and especially the media who were against this speech to our children, you are all so ignorant, selfish, and are the ones who have a lot of growing up to do.. Perhaps if a President gave this speech when you were kids, you would have turned out a lot smarter.

Political satirical cartoons can cut right to the heart of a matter with few words.
I just can't express how frightening I find this wave of hatred that is contaminating this country. Never mind the countless attempts to smear and disrespect the President, from birthers to mob controlled anti-health reformers shouting "Nazis and Socialists."
For years name calling has been an effective tactic with the Hatewingers (BTW, I am using their tactic since it is effective and calling these hard right, hating conservatives what they are...Hate­wingers..L­et's try to make it catch on, just like they do with their words).
So these Hatewingers have managed to show our children that the office of the President is something they can disrespect. What the hell did President Obama do that brought out a scream of indoctrination...A lesson plan designed to have kids working with the government (that is supposed to be working with them). Something that could get their input??? If somebody thought there was a problem with the plan (like they would be working with Dems only) they could have rationally suggested a rewording.
The Hatewingers have given their children an invaluable lesson and one that is continued and strengthened in places like Fox (Beck,Limbaugh, etc).
This is only going to get worse because they see that their tactics are working. We have to do something to fight back in someway.

I think if Obama really wants to encourage students to stay in school, he should start by ending a system that rewards those that drop out by giving them food stamps, welfare checks, and soon to come free healthcare. Knowing that you must prepare yourself to earn a living might go a long way towards discouraging drop outs. Hunger is a great motivator

Depending on gov't hand-outs is not fun. It is a cold, hard life. I did prepare myself to make a living, but I know a lot of people do not have the resources to live in our current jobless society. I help them out regularly and have for all 35 years I've worked. I do not begrudge people any bare necessities they get thru gov't help, as I can't help everyone. But many of us do not want to help anyone, even the least among us our Lord asked us to feed and clothe.

Twenty years ago, my husband was hit with a catastrophic disease while he was out of work and had no health insurance. Yes, he went on welfare and Medicaid for a few years. And when he finally had money--he PAID THEM BACK, because that is what the law prescribed.

Popularity of the issue shows just how thin skinned Obamatons are about their savior. As usual, it wasn't Obama himself, but his Secretary who put out instructions that included Obama worship. And when it is criticized, how thin skinned people become about the criticism. If it was truly legitimate, she wouldn't have scrambled to take it out of the lesson instructions. The critics were right, but "how dare they criticize it!"

So let me see if I've got this straight:

The President was speaking to schoolchildren yesterday, advocating the traditional virtues of hard work, personal responsibility, and respect for authority. The Right stands in firm opposition to the President's message. Therefore logically, it must be the case that the Right ACTUALLY OPPOSES the traditional virtues of hard work, personal responsibility, and respect for authority.

And if that is the case, then it must logically follow that the Right actually favors the OPPOSITE of these virtues - namely slothfulness, personal irresponsibility, and rebellion against authority. If that's what they REALLY believe, then why don't they just come right out and say so for a change?

C'mon right wingers! Just get it off your chests already. I guarantee you'll feel better...
