While Dick Cheney's endorsement of Rush Limbaugh might carry the weight of any other supervillain's endorsement, it is still significant. When Dick Cheney, still one of the most recognizable faces of the Republican Party, chose Rush Limbaugh over Colin Powell, he chose racism over service to your country, divisiveness over diplomacy, and anger over prudence.
Since the Republicans value military service, family values and patriotism so much, it is strange that Cheney would pick Limbaugh. Here's a comparison of the two.
Education
Powell
Grew up poor in the South Bronx yet managed to graduate from City College. Received M.B.A. from George Washington University, after his second tour in Vietnam in 1971.
Limbaugh
Grew up rich and flunked out of college after two semesters.
Military Service
Powell
41 years of service from private to general.
Limbaugh
Draft dodger.
Family Values
Powell
Married for 46 years, with one child.
Limbaugh
Thrice divorced, no children.
Racism

Limbaugh
Top 10 Racist Quotes.
Sexism
Powell
None to Speak of.
Limbaugh
He said: "Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society," and also, "We're not sexists, we're chauvinists -- we're male chauvinist pigs, and we're happy to be because we think that's what men were destined to be. We think that's what women want."
Patriotism
Powell
50 years of serving his country under both political parties.
Limbaugh
Blind loyalty to his country when his party is in power. Wants his country to fail when it isn't.
Legal Problems
Powell
None to speak of.
Limbaugh
Was accused of laundering money to illegally buy prescription pills. Prosecutors agreed to drop the charge if Limbaugh paid $30,000 to defray the cost of the investigation and completed an 18-month therapy regimen with his physician.
Approval Rating
Powell

Limbaugh

Cheney says that Powell was a Democrat because of his endorsement of Barack Obama. He clearly didn't listen to a word Powell said when he endorsed Obama. Powell wasn't abandoning Republican values or principles but was decrying the racism and divisiveness the party was promoting. By choosing a racist, sexist, hate spewing entertainer over a respected, fair ex-general, Cheney is illustrating the new ugly face of the Republican party. A party with no ideas, a party that caters to racists and bigots and a party that wants America to fail.

I believe we have but ONE PARTY. Both are terribly corrupt and have not done anything for the people but themselves! The song and dance they play for us is only to deceive us, thinking we actually have
two parties. The in-fighting alone takes away precious time they could be doing reading proposed bills, etc. Why do we want to fall for this?
Why does "Give us Barabbus" come to mind...
Google: The Obama Deception. I'm curious how you feel about this little piece of information.
Here's some rebuttal to The Obama Deception from a conservative blogger:

I'm curious how you feel about those articles?
.........."Cheney is illustrating the new ugly face of the Republican Party" excuse me, this is not a new face, it is the same face without the mask. There are factors that have brought the monsters out of the closet. One of those factor "Fear of Change" , which they see as a threat to their way of life. Obama begin elected President has driven a lot of people insane, just listen to all of the insanity coming from the GOP.
I suppose anyone looks good standing next to Limbaugh, but I resist attempts to rehabilitate Powell's reputation. He disgraced himself and his country when he lied to the UN while laying the groundwork for Bush's war, and he helped get who knows how many people needlessly killed in the process. He deserves the political oblivion he now finds himself in.
He made a mistake, at least he's trying to make up for it
Good list. Now, everyone - forward this to your Republican friends. They have choices to make.
Excellent Post. I agree and im glad you provided that information.
Being apolitical (not conned by either group of thieves), I can at least stick up for the (real) Republican party, that was overthrown and taken over way back when, no one believes radicals such as Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perry and the Valdez Condolleza Rice are Republicans.
At the same time sell-outs like Obama and the Hierarchy of the Dem-Congress can hardly be called Democrats. So lets just say we have a 'Rogue Gov' and go on from there.
I agree with part of that. I think traditionalists know those folks arent true republicans, but the problem is they are the best at using propaganda, fear tactics, and intimidation, along with campaign attack tactics that cause too many party supporters to beleive they are the Republican party. In addition to that, the rest of the republican national political scene supported and still supports those people and their policies, with the exception of a few, and possibly because they are trying not to get into trouble now but regardless of their reasons, being "Loyal" republicans to those cretins doesnt make them much better either.
Which would tell me, if some high level republican doesnt break down, and come out against the hypocrisy, the bad legislation, and bad ideology, then theres no hope for that party.
So if the neocons took over, then who are the real republicans?
And why is Obama a sell-out who can hardly be called a democrat?
And let's not say we have a rogue government. We have an elected government with widespread support from the populace.
I know you said you are "apolitical", but you make make sweeping generalizations without any evidence or explanation. Are you sure you aren't a republican??
"At the same time sell-outs like Obama and the Hierarchy of the Dem-Congress can hardly be called Democrats. So lets just say we have a 'Rogue Gov' and go on from there."
I have no idea what you are talking about ... do you?
I really coundn't have said it better myself. We should really stop wasting our breath arguing with these dittoheads. The only think we need to ask them is "Who was in charge on 9/11?" and "Who voted for them?"
This is not news. This was made evident during the 2008 election. Cheney, rush et al speak only to their base. They have not made any move to endear themselves to democrats, young people, minorities or women, therefore they are not being heard by those groups. Those groups are the majority of Americans.
Rethuglicans will be in the minority for a long time, because we the majority see through them.
uhhh, Powell endorsed Obama. Would you call a democrat who endorsed Bush a democrat? Like that Lieberman fellow?
Ummmm, Lieberman is an independent.
No we wouldn't you tool because he is an independent. Remember? He lost the democratic primary to another democrat and decided to run as an independent and caucus with the democrats.
I am a registered Democrat that has consistantly voted for the person I think is best for the job. I voted for Reagan's first appointment, I did not for his second term. I voted for Bush 2's first term, but not his second term because I was wrong. I voted for Carter. I voted for a Clinton term.
Cheney and his crew made me realize that the Bush choice was wrong. And now to discover that this guy and his family dodged military service while calling for another attack on America for his personal exoneration and gain disgusts me. Cheney augments my dislike for the Republican party at every turn.
I voted for and support President Obama; not necessarily because he is a democrat but because he is the best choice for me to clean up the mess the Cheneys have made and for the American people.
So what is your point, BobLablah? Am I missing something.
The point is that party leaders are not allowed to vote for the other team, or at least they are not allowed to announce that vote. Of course Cheney would take Rush over Colin. What's the big deal about that?
