Catherine Cussaguet is an avid traveler and photographer whose journeys have often taken her to the Far East. Through her photography and efforts to to increase public awareness she seeks to help protect human rights, disappearing civilizations and endangered ecosystems.

Cussaguet grew up in France where she received an M.A. in Physical Education. She taught in schools for 10 years before entering the fitness world as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor. She now lives and works in Aspen, Colorado.

An accomplished athlete with a passion for the outdoors, Cussaguet did her first trek to the Himalayas in 2002. She follows each journey with photos exhibits and slide show presentations. She is motivated by the desire to teach the public about different parts of the world and give back to those in need by facilitating our material help. In 2008 she had a show at the Aspen Institute in honor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit to Aspen. The net proceeds of the prints’ sale has been helping to support a Tibetan orphanage in Lhasa through the American Himalayan Foundation (www.himalayan-foundation.org).

She is looking forward to developing more relations between the East and West by supporting humanitarian aid and organizing enriching travels for Westerners to these countries. View her photographs at:

What Would The Dalai Lama Say About the Connecticut Tragedy?

Shocked like everybody by the Connecticut tragedy, I have been reflecting upon this terrible event and the lessons we can learn from it.

My first reaction is one of incomprehension: how can anybody massacre innocent children and teachers? How is it possible? What possessed this man?
