She worked with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) for 14 years, where she served as a primary spokesperson for GLAAD, as well as its first National News Media Director. In 2005, with her wife Leah McElrath, she founded Renna Communications, a public interest communications firm that specializes in LGBT issues.
