Stop Apologizing!
Nancy Pelosi did it again. One more apology on a stack of endless apologies from Democrats. Please stop being so damn weak. It's embarrassing to look at.
This time it was a rebuke of Pete Stark (D-CA) for saying the president is getting kids killed for his own amusement in Iraq. Amusement, ego, whatever. The kids are dying and it is all because of the president's vainglory. Pete Stark shouldn't be apologizing for that, Nancy Pelosi shouldn't be apologizing on his behalf or rebuking him, it should be the president who is apologizing!
Read this. It is the first article I ever wrote on Huffington Post. It's called the "Seven Step Plan for Media Domination and Opponent Destruction" and it's just as true today as it was over two years ago. The Republicans have done this countless more times since I originally wrote this article. The Democrats are apparently never going to catch on to this shell game.
But I'm long past waiting for the Democratic leaders to do the right thing or realize how badly they're being outplayed at every turn. It's time to start rooting for a new generation of Democratic leaders like Pete Stark and Chris Dodd. If they're ready to do the fighting, I'm ready to stand behind them.

Y'know, it's funny. There is noone who hates Republicans as much as me, but as I watch the Dems acting like like such hopeless pussies, I ask: If they can't find a villain in Washington and all get on the same page, how the hell can you put them in charge of the country? It's clear now that the Dems have never had a meeting to decide how to wield a one-vote majority, and they're all acting as independent agents. It's absolutely stupid. The GOP would never do something that dumb. You want the country led by a party this limp? At least Bush's criminal stupidity and warmongering may frighten a despot or two.
I actually think the Dems will squander their lead with behavior like this. And if that happens I'm leaving the country.

The Democrats are so ineffectual that it stands to question whether the enemy we know is less dangerous than the precarious ally we can't trust. At least we know what atrocities to expect from the Republicans. Who the hell knows what will become of this country with the DLC running the White House. It could be a whole lot worse.
Just two years ago I would have argued that despite the fact that America is going downhill fast, it's still clearly the best place to live. I'm not sure that's true anymore. It's a tough call. BC is a pretty nice place to live.

Your right Cenk, Stark shouldn't apologize for emotional, stupid, and unsupported rhetoric since it only serves to discredit himself.
However, Turkey should apologize for murdering millions of innocent Armenians.
When the Armenians were slaughtered there was no Turkey. It was the Ottomans who did it. End of story. Also America should apologize for many heinous act - like Iraq to name one.
If Turkey didn't do it, why is that nation denying so aggressively that genocide happened?
If you want to take that route, then there weren't any Armenians--they were also residents of the Ottoman Empire. However, the Armenians should be forced to apologize for their people's terrorist actions against Turkish officials since 1973. (After all, if it was the Ottoman Empire which was responsible, and that Empire has been defunct since 1918, then the Armenian terrorists shouldn't be attacking anyone, should they?)
Or slavery. Treatment and genocide of Native people....and yes most definitely Iraq.
if pelosi and reid are the best the dems can come up with,their majority will be short lived.i dont mean they wont pick up seats next year,they will. based on bush being the worst pres.in the past 100 years,they will increase their numbers but not substanually.theres no way to describe these two wimps..its like they were chosen by the white house to be their opposition.as an independent,please give me a reason to support your party and candidates..dont aotomatically count me as a supporter just because i despise the bush cheney team.you need to earn supporters,not take them for granted.

Ever since George W. Bush took office the leading Democrats have seemed to be bending over backwards not to attack him. Why? It comes off as awkward and certainly fearful and cowardly. Starting with the impossibly invisible Tom Daschele. Who is/are the advisers the elected Democrats, office seekers and professional consulting crowd listen to or are fearful of? Is it a couple of those Republicans offering their free advice? Bush is out of office in a little over a year - when are these geniuses going to really attack him and his GOP followers who are shredding the Constitution? The current group of GOP candidates can already respond to charges by saying - What are you asking me for? I didn't start this war. The Democrats have tied nobody to this disaster and when somebody suddenly and surprisingly speaks up in the pathetic vacuum whether it's Move On or Pete Stark the embarrassing Nancy Pelosi trashes them. The Democrats turning on their own, disloyalty that is shocking in any configuration.
This behavior confirms to me that 2008 election is not a sure thing (which it should be). Pelosi, Reed, Steny Hoyer these are the best Democratic Party spokesman?

Pelosi has never asked Bush to apologize and Bush has never apologized for his lies which has killed 100,000's and cost trillions. Right or not, the results of Pelosi's behavior net the same result. I personally find her just as disgraceful either way, which is, I daresay, more disgraceful than the enemy, if there be such a thing.

Can't we get a few more brave politicians like Stark, who, when the Republicans howl over having to listen to the truth, tell them where to spend eternity? The Democrats' lack of spine has moved beyond tiresome.

The kool-aid drinking, blinder-wearing party members have a little trouble seeing forests, Cenk. You're 100% spot on with the request for old-guard status quo to step aside.
All three of the front-running dems, for instance, would love to be called 'progressive', but have no problem letting religious bigotry rule their stand on EQUAL civil rights for same sex couples. You can't get much more regressive than that.
Or, unless you think allowing OUR men and women in uniform to die for political expediency and sway in an upcoming election might be 'progressive'. That's being generous, because the FACT that all 3 have said they WOULD still have troops in Iraq in 2013, says that they're there to protect OIL and NATURAL GAS interests like the preznutz.
WE are insane to elect ANY more leaders that think geopolitical aggression for resources is in ANY way doing the right thing.
What have WE become?
The problem for the Democtraic leadership- if it really is a problem- is that the next elections are going to go to the Democrats. The leadership will take NO chances that may put that victory in jeopardy. They will lie low and play it very close to the vest I.E they are content to run out the clock. The real problem here, is that the Dem's have the deck stacked very much in their favor, and if they can't take any chances now, they never will. It's time for the Democratic leadership to evolove into a vertabrate species
I'm thinking of legally changing my name to primary challengers, until the idea really takes hold. With maybe 15 exceptions, they all need to go. Sometimes the only way to get your house in order is bulldoze it and rebuild. I believe this is one of those times. (This is a metaphor and not a threat, for any of you NSA types who are reading this instead of working on something Bin Laden related.)
Where are the photographs of our war Dead?
How long with the Democrats stand silent and allow Bush to dishonor these people by making them invisible?
Something as basic and humanistic as this and they allow themselves to be made party to this mindless slaughter?
Will Pelosi ever stand up and say--enough of the invisible war, apologize to us for the lies that have led to this abomination? This marginalizing of the efforts of good, though misled, people who make the ultimate sacrifice so that you can joke about not finding the WMDs!
