In her various roles over the past 10 years, as the Mesa County Adminstrator, the Manager of Denver Department of Parks and Recreation, Special Assistant to the Mayor, Policy and Initiatives and in her position as Deputy City Liaison for the Democratic National Convention for Mayor John Hickenlooper, Chantal has worked vigorously to maintain the high integrity expected from the Denver community. Throughout her career, Chantal has worked in public policy, program management, marketing, and public relations. In over 20 years, she has planned, evaluated, coordinated, and implemented National, State and local private and public initiatives.

Before joining Mayor Hickenlooper, Chantal worked as the Director of Colorado Women’s Business Office, appointed by Governor Roy Romer. In this position, she worked closely with women entrepreneurs throughout the State of Colorado to increase business ownership and growth. Chantal also served as Deputy Director of Boards and Commissions in the Romer Administration where she worked to fill over 3,000 Gubernatorial appointments to over 400 boards.

Before joining the public sector, Chantal was the co-founder of Biomedical Consultants, Inc., a healthcare related consulting firm for the investment community.

Outside of the U.S., Chantal was also a Fellow in the European Union Visitors Programme, lived in London for three years working in Public Relations, and lived in Spain for a year studying spanish.

Chantal is a third generation Coloradan and is married to Douglas Unfug, principal, Red Shed Architects. They have two boys, Boland (10) and Garrison (7).
