Governor Tim Kaine has been at the center of the news this week after Tuesday's front page story in the Washington Post about his "very serious" conversations with Sen. Barack Obama about joining the Democratic presidential ticket. I had a wide ranging conversation with the Governor on Tuesday about the recent reports, his relationship with Senator Obama, the prospects for Democrats in his home state this November as well as his views on faith, trade and foreign policy. Here are excerpts:

If O picks him (which I really can't imagine) it would show an appalling lack of judgment.
Good interview, but Kaine was kind of a rambling, overly earnest, intellectually lightweight (in spite of "Harvard Law")....disappointment.
Maybe he grows on you over time, but on first encounter, I don't see how Obama could ever turn to this man for advice on the many serious problems facing our nation.
