My Conversation with Nancy Pelosi on the Financial Crisis

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

The global financial crisis has many Americans scared and confused. Many believe congress is bailing out the very people that got us into this mess. "People are very angry at how the system was exploited and we can review that, but what we have to spend our energy on is making this economy well," Nancy Pelosi said in a conversation with me recently. "The exploiters in this situation have to know that the party is over."

The speaker of the house of representatives also discussed whether Congress has control of the financial crisis. Watch and see what she has to say.

All of you blasting them Dems for trusting Paulson are missing the point. They know Paulson's out in 3 months. Then, Obama's Sec of Tres. will be in office. Thus, Pelosi and Reid cede power to Paulson for three months in order to get it for up to eight years. This whole thing's a powergrab for the Obama adminsitration.

Yes, Nancy is correct, the Big Money Guys must be told the party is over. Unfortunately, the DLC has taken just about as much of their money as have the Republicans, so I don't think Nancy or anyone in Congress right now is going to tell them. We will not have a government made up of We the People until the money is eliminated from the election process. Since it's unlikely that we're liable to get the SCOTUS decision that says corporations are people overturned, that means we're going to have to get publicly financed elections. That would open the field to a lot more candidates and maybe even more than just two political parties. I don't see the Dems and the Repubs putting themselves out of business anytime soon. Which means, that for all the hype about "Change" we're going to continue to see a lot of the status quo no matter who's elected in Nov.

They don't, they've failed, and we should really have a "purge" option on American ballots that allows us to vote no to both candidates and to hold election after election until we DO have a good candidate.

She an Reid were ready to give Paulson 700 Billion with no oversite, it took the outrage of the American people to get any restrictions on Paulson. I lost respect for her a year ago when she gave bush EVERYTHING he wanted and now she was willing to give him 700 billion of our tax dollars.
I dont' have any idea who this woman is anymore, she certianly isn't a Democrat and she isn't looking out for the good of Americans.

I would hope?#!??$%!? So Nancy Pelosi doesn't understand, didn't get any assurances about what the United States was planning to see from all of this money? She's trusting Paulsen (and hence, Bush) to do the right thing? What, does she think they can't possibly steal a trillion in the next ninety days and then Barack will make the boo-boo all better?

arrrrggghhh!

Any history of the disastrous Bush years must include a whole chapter of about the enabler-in-chief and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Who provided nothing like the loyal opposition to all of Bush's excesses, crimes, deceptions, and misjudgement.

If you had any brains, you would keep quiet until you had something real to say. Do you ever watch Charlie Rose? He has the best and brightest of America and the conversations are phenominal! Go to his wesite and actually watch the interview with Speaker Pelosi! Or the interview with Warren Buffet, or any of a number of well respected economists, or business leaders, musicians, authors, playwrights, foreign leaders, reporters etc. EVERYONE should watch Charlie Rose for thoughtful discussion of today's issues.
Speaker Pelosi is a very BRIGHT woman, very articulate and very thoughtful.
