never mind any of that. why did he sell out cnn? and what are HIS plans to fix media news...or has abandoned the playing field to Rupert (an American's American) Murdoch?
Ted Turner announced a $200 million partnership with the United Methodist Church and Lutheran World Relief to fight malaria. The Protestant groups have been working overseas to fight poverty and prevent disease for more than a century. Ted Turner created the United Nations Foundation 10 years ago with a historic $1 billion gift to support U.N. causes and activities. Here is part of our conversation:

Ted, save your money and buy CNN back. It's gone down the tube since you sold it.
Maybe you can rescue cable news from corporate infotainment.
One of these days philanthropists are going to realize the best way to fight disease is to fight for birth control. As people are saved from disease and live longer, the population rises and more people die of disease and hunger related disease. The best way to spend money is to spend it on the education ofwomen and children and giving them a bit of financial clout. Women want one or two children they can feed and educate. They are not interested in being forced to have children who will die of dengue, dirt, AIDS or parasites. They want healthy children who will live better lives. In China the one child policy is not a problem with women who are educated. In fact, many of them don't want any children. It is a long time since China had a famine which killed millions. Once it was a fact of life but to-day it is history.
SHUT UP CHARLIE ROSE!!!! You botched your own interview by CONSTANTLY interrupting, peppering the man's answers with factoids, talking rudely over him, out-pointing him. Unwatchable, painful. You're supposed to a seasoned interviewer. Ask questions, then SHUT UP!!!!
Man , do I agree with this.
One of my fave Charlie Rose interviews in some time. Even got Ted singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", state that W is in over his head, discuss the obsolescence of war, emphasize the moral need of fighting global warming, overpopulation and loose nukes as well as mention how hard the restaurant business is. A classic interview.
Agree, it was very insightful.
Ted Turner claims a temperature increase not even supported by Al Gore's version of what will happen. He claims we will all become cannibals.
Yet Ted Turner is one of the largest private land owners (if not the first) in the country. And what does he do with much of that land you ask.
He raises live stock for food.
I guess nobody bothered to mention to dear Mr. Turner that eating meat is one of the largest contributors to global warming there is.
Irony anyone?
Liberals can't be two-faced and phony!!! How dare you make such an insinuation!
