Consider: Burger King mocking Tony Romo by way of his "blimpy" ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson
Take home questions:
1. Is Burger King, of all companies, allowed to make fun of anyone for being fat seeing as they're half the reason for the obesity crisis in this country?
2. Tony Romo & J. Simp have been broken up for some time now and while I don't watch football I have it on good authority that he still sucks. So does it make any sense to still be blaming her for his problems?
3. How does airing a commercial in primetime that mocks an actress' weight sell football to men? Do men really care?
4. Does anyone really think Jessica Simpson is fat?
Consider: Nicole Eggert mocking herself on Funny or Die for "getting fat" by spoofing her Baywatch days.
Take home questions:
1. Does it hurt less if you beat your critics to the punchline and call yourself out for being "fat"?
2. Why would she do this? Has Nicole Eggert done anything since Baywatch? Is she pimping some new b-level movie or something? Why??
3. Are there any women who really found this funny? Are there any men?
4. Is she really fat or is she just a victim of cruel camera angles and a too-tight bikini?
Bonus question: Have you ever pretended to be dying to get someone to give you mouth-to-mouth? Have you ever received mouth-to-mouth when you didn't need it? Because I have (lifeguard class, junior year of high school) and let me tell you, it is nothing like kissing.

In the first place, I'm not into football. In the second place, I'd rather starve than eat Burger King food. In the third place, I don't care about a no-talent pseudo-singer like Jessica Simpson.
If Burger King wants to make fun of fat people, go for the gold: Boss Limbaugh.
Hey Burger King--How will it feel to have WOMEN boycotting your hamburgers?
I'm thinking you better pucker up and kiss Jessica's Fat ***** (to coin Megan McCain's phrase)
BTW-SHE'S NOT FAT! The average size for a woman in America is size 14.
Were you taken over by Karl Lagerfeld?!
burger king..........bye bye..............
I am not a Simpson fan at all. Still, she really didn't deserve this. It was deliberately mean-spirited. If they wanted to poke fun at someone's weight, they should have gone after Wade Phillips. As for the apology issued by Fox Sports, it sucks. Any apology containing the words "might have been offended" is fake. You're either sorry or you're not. The only thing they're sorry about is being called into account.
Clear and true.
Fletch17c, I agree jessica is still beautiful and who are you or me, ones to state who's fat or not, she has taken such a hit in the last year in a half about her looks. I believe soon she will have her own talk show and just like Tara she will tell them all to go to h----, you fill in the blanks.
Ummmmm.....anyone can look at someone and tell if they are fat or not.
I don't think Burger King and any other fast food restaurant are responsible for the obesity epidemic. I mean, there is no way you can eat anything on that menu thinking that it is good for you in any way. People are just lazy and think that eating right equals depriving them of things they like to eat. I am now of an age that most of my friends have kids, and thankfully I'm able to keep my mouth shut or else I would probably not have any friends with kids left. I was at one of this friend's house yesterday and they feed their 6 year old kid greasy chinese take out, with sugary fake juice and a frozen chocolate "snack" for dessert. The time it took for the Chinese food to arrive was plenty to cook something fresh and healthy, but that would mean that they would have to stop watching tv, playing in the computer and putting down their cell phones for half an hour.
Wow what a good friend. To trash your friend on a blog post even without saying who it is means you are no friend. Should Burger king try to produce healthier food? I think so but I don't eat fast food so my point is pointless.
"1. Does it hurt less if you beat your critics to the punchline and call yourself out for being "fat"?"
Yes. It's the pre-emptive defense doctrine.
"2. Why would she do this?"
To make fun of guys who have insanely high standards for female beauty, even though they can't be bothered to keep fit themselves.
"3. Are there any women who really found this funny? Are there any men?"
I thought it was funny. Bodies of boneheads bobbing by the beach is an appealing image.
"4. Is she really fat or is she just a victim of cruel camera angles and a too-tight bikini?"
She looks pretty good to me.
"Bonus question... Have you ever received mouth-to-mouth when you didn't need it?"
Yes. My former wife and I practiced on each other a couple of times. VERY different than practicing on a dummy.
Agreed, agreed, agreed and agreed.
It seems to me that the desire to villinize Jessica Simpson for being "fat" is more about trying to put her in her place. She's a woman who is visibly in control of her music career and fashion/shoe line, she makes a lot of money, and she's pretty. Everyone loved her when she was in the Duke's of Hazzard because she was a fantasy pin up girl, but now that she's "gotten fat" they feel disappointed. She is no more responsible for Tony Romo's failure as a football player than Laura Bush is responsible for George's failure as a president. It's the blame game and once again the women with power gets pulled down a notch to make sure that no men are threatened in this realm.
It's disheartening.

What the Hell Are You Talking About?

On the Fox cartoon.
1. I didn't see it as Burger King making fun of Jessica Simpson, but even if I did, I wouldn't tie it to their products. Think we all have personal responsibility to eat fast food sparingly, not as a main part of our diet. Its not up to them to police what we eat.
2. I agree mentioning JS now seemed odd, I don't associate Romo with her anymore. It seemed a cheap shot, said more about the people who made the skit than anything else.
3. The commercial wasn't in primetime, it was on Fox NFL Sunday pre-game show (I know since I watched it), and the comment about JS was only one small part of the cartoon. They made fun of the Cowboys in general, including comments that the coach would soon be fired.
4. She is not, and was never fat. Its amazing what is considered heavy for those in the public eye.
