How to Give Birth Like a Celebrity

Posted: 01/27/11 03:41 PM ET

Thanks to Forever 21 and knock-off sites, dressing like a celebrity is passé these days. Want to really shine like the stars? With a baby bump the new must-have accessory -- Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Mariah Carey, Rachel Zoe, Jewel and Victoria Beckham are just a few of the celebs that have recently announced pregnancies (holy bedazzled burp cloths, what is in the water in L.A.?) -- try birthing like your favorite star! Like the Teen Moms know, a lot is riding on your ability to turn your birth plan into a business -- how much did People pay Brangelina again? -- so make sure the first light your baby sees is a flashbulb!

Sure you'll be accused of copying Angelina Jolie and her famous birth of Shiloh in a locked-down compound in Namibia but here's your chance to up the ante. Africa is so passe these days, look for something more dangerous. If you must be so boring as to birth in a hospital, be sure to at least demand a lavish celebrity birthing suite and bring your own doctor.

Seems a shame to let all that free publicity go unleveraged. Why don't they sell the naming rights for their babies? A great way to put those tabloid headlines to work for years to come:

"Citizens Bank Beckham and Mom at Harry Potter XXII Premiere"

"Twins Wal-Mart and Costco Carey Beg Wandering Mama Mariah: Don't Forget About Us!"

"Mama Natalie Sez I'm OK With It as Hewlett-Packard Portman Seeks Sex Change"

This show fits in with the times. Nothing like a 'present' writer to get in touch w/ the current times. Fascination stuff here.
