Q: What is your fav vacation destination?A: New York City
Q: What’s your typical packing list look like when you go to NYC?A: A trench coat, one pair of comfy flats, sneakers and heels, electronic items (camera, backup battery, go pro), distressed jeans, white tee, one or two dresses for the evening, scarf (in case it gets cold), and my aviators.
Q: What is your go-to drink on a plane?A: Water! Drink plenty of water. The average humidity inside the cabin of a plane is around 15%. This is lower than your typical humidity indoors, which is around 30-65%. So the key take away here is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I also travel with a small can of Evian water spray just in case drinking water is not enough. If you are someone that needs caffeine, ask for tea over coffee.
Q: What’s the biggest travel fashion don’t?A: 1. Never wear skinny jeans or anything tight and constricting when you travel. Wearing anything tight, especially on the lower part of your body, can result in swelling of the joints and ankles.2. Leave the fanny pack at home. Nothing says rob me like wearing a fanny pack strapped right around your waist.3. Crocs and Uggs – They are both chunky and take way too much space.
Q: Any other tips or anything else travel fashion-related that you’d like to share?A: 1. Up your game when it comes to skin care during your travel. When you arrive at your new destination, you quickly realize that your skin is starting to change due to the new environment. Pack a travel size (or grab some samples from your neighborhood Sephora) of your favorite serums, moisturizers, creams and masks. These items will help keep your skin looking clear, refreshed and hydrated. My go-to products come from SK-II, Clarins, and Skin Inc.2. Up your hair game at the same time you up your skin care. Coming from North America, we all have a water softener built in to our plumbing, plus our water is safe to drink directly out of the tap. If you are going to a destination where it is not safe to drink the water out of the tap and you don’t know if they have a water softener built in to their plumbing, you will need to change your hair game to compensate for this. I usually pack a good hair masque and hair oil to help compensate for this. If you are going somewhere where it is incredibly humid, grab anti-frizz product to help prevent you sporting a fuzz ball. I really like Kerastase.3. Plan all the details for your trip in advance. I take the time to investigate anything I should be aware of before I arrive, like what days/hours sites are open, when the best time to visit is, and most important – dress code. Knowing all of this in advance helps me plan out what I will wear each day and make sure I pack exactly what I need without taking anything extra.4. Convert your money at the local currency exchange location. Whenever I travel, I convert a few dollars into the local currency to help pay unexpected things.5. Don’t pack more than 3 pairs of shoes. Shoes tend to take up a lot of space. All you really need is your basic 3 – sneakers, sandals and a pair of heels.
