Is Hillary Clinton a racist assassination-monger?
Of course not, but she's making it easier and easier for people to accuse her of that and more besides. And she's making it harder and harder for people to consider her eternal candidacy in a positive light.
Today in an editorial board interview, Clinton tried yet again to make the case as to why she should stay in this race against all odds. She invoked to the Ghosts of Primary Calendars Past, pointing out that her husband did not lock up his first nomination until June.
As specious an argument as that is (and it's been growing in speciousness for the two months we've been hearing it) if she had stopped there, it would have just been another beautiful day for her in the State of Denial, which, I'm told, is NOT a caucus state.
But did she just stop there? Oh, when does Hillary EVER just stop there?
Being Hillary Clinton, she piled on with a reference to June being when Robert Kennedy won the California primary -- and got assassinated.
Of course, of COURSE, Hillary was in no way advocating, hoping for or even insinuating that such a horrendous, history-ruining event could take place now. God, it even pains me to type it!
But...
When you go to ride the tiger, getting on is the easy part. If you don't have an exit strategy ahead of time, things are going to get pretty desperate. And desperate times, in Hillaryland, call for desperate pronouncements, the types of dumb things that get said when your entire campaign is found to be an empty pantsuit.
Things like:
My experience is so vast that I even committed diplomacy under sniper fire.
Hard-working white people don't vote for my black opponent.
Seating delegations advantageous to me from states that broke DNC rules is like Emancipation in the 1860s or Civil Rights in the 1960s.
Yes, all of these statements are ridiculous, and patently, obviously false on their face. But WHAT ELSE DOES SHE HAVE? When you're fighting for your political life, and you've already blown the chance to dismount the tiger gracefully, that's the time when you open up your mouth and any old shit just comes tumbling out.
It's like a poker game, where your own vastly overinflated sense of superiority won't let you walk away from a mistake. You've raised, check-raised and re-raised on a pair of pocket deuces, as flop, turn and river brought nothing but diamonds. You, your opponent, the dealer and everyone else in the room has marked you as a low pair, and you know you're up against the nut flush.
So you go all in, and talk flamboyant trash, in a desperate bid to bluff the whole world.
But all the world sees is that you're not just beaten, you're macho, desperate and dumb, to boot.
No, Hillary is not some racist, assassination-mongering, protest-marching wanna-be Rambo with a diplomatic pouch.
She's just being Hillary, and that's bad enough.
Dem leaders and Camp Obama have been way too nice to her, almost to the point of looking weak in her shadow. Probably ignoring her makes the most sense; but, they also need a Plan B to vanquish her once and for all--to not be intimidated by her constant threats to torch the democratic party. Her women supporters are not so stupid as to allow even more conservatives on the Supreme Court ; and, face it, few of her redneck whites would support her carpetbagging against McCain.
Nice.
Very very NICE.
That woman needs a hobby other than her hasbeen!!!
Remember to vote all.
:-)
That was then. Now, Wright's supposedly offensive belief has become Hillary Clinton's campaign in West Virginia and Kentucky. Hillary goes to the polls claiming that Barack Obama can't win because he's black.
Clearly, Hillary Clinton has a world-class talent in only one area: a complete absence of shame and honor, coupled with world-beating gall.
Come on! Am I the only one here at Huffpost who notices that Mr. Obama did NOT have a "white voter problem" until Senator Clinton made race the Alpha & Omega of her campaign?
Rev. Wright's "No! God didn't bless America.. he Damned America!" comment was in DIRECT RESPONSE to Senator Clinton's race-baiting, Rev. Wright (a Marine veteran who lived through the vile and violent SEGREGATION era) clearly not having the patience of Moses that Senator Obama has shown.
For Baiting Rev. Wright into his comments, alone, Senator Clinton should live in party purgatory for a year or five.
I don't think she said it as a threat or even as a reason to stay in the race but rather as a scare tactic.
In other words, she is saying that we can't risk voting for a man who may be assasinated.
That was my immediate impression and I'm surprised no one in the media has picked up on it.
Criminal? No. Slimy? Yes!
And typical Clinton.
Cheers, mate!

HRC states "words don't matter"...HA! All politicians HAVE is words! This is what they base their very campaign on: WORDS.
And her "words" reveal a dark, tricky, sinister, clever, manipulative, calculating...mind!
She's been stumbling, fumbling, and messing up throughout her entire campaign: with money, staffing, message, strategy. The coronation she was anticipating didn't work out ...and she demonstrated NO flexibility, adaptability, or Plan B.
She does not to be either the president NOR the VP.
Get her off the stage: NOW!

it's not only that I don't trust her, it's that I see that she has no reason to trust herself -
She's a loose cannon & I, for one, do not want her anywhere near a red phone, any color phone or ....a microphone, ever again -
Well it did. You just imploded.
Bye Bye
she refused...absolutely REFUSED to even consider the possibility that she would NOT earn the nomination...remember that TV interview last winter? Chris Matthews hit it right on the head when he stated that the clintons feel like they have the nomination OWED to them. So with this mindset, the "do anything to win" mantra is all they can do....
Obama doesn't get (in her opinion).
OBAMA 08
Just yesterday afternoon, before the story broke, me, my husband and a friend were talking about how great leaders before had been assassinated and the discussion came up again that she might "suggest" such action. I'm horrified to see that my husband was right. He also thinks she'll try for McCain's VP slot but I'm not buying that one...not yet anyway.
