McDonald's Not the Only One Touting "Over 2 Billion Served"

Posted: Updated:

Back in the day, McDonald's used to tout the billions of customers they
served. It took the company many years to scale and become large enough
to promote this number. Undoubtedly, they are one of the rulers in the
fast food world, but now we have a new brand boasting a similar
statistic.

An article in AllThingsD
reports that people are frenzied over iPhone applications and have downloaded games, tools, news feeds and other apps at the tune of 2 billion. This number is growing
at an increasing pace, and even with a smaller user base than BlackBerry
and other mobile handsets, the iPhone continues to dominate in the
smartphone app world.

So the big question for many brands is... Do we really need an iPhone
app? The answer is a resounding YES! With the advent of the Internet,
higher broadband connections, proliferation of mobile devices and more
people logging on to the mobile Web, the overall media landscape is
expanding considerably. Brands have more options to communicate their
message to target customers, and iPhone apps are fast becoming a popular
element within the overall media mix.
