From the very beginning, the presidential race should have been between Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton opposing Sen. McCain and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. It could still be if we quit wasting time.-- Letter to the Editor, Wall Street Journal 08/12/08
I don't believe Condoleezza Rice can actually play piano. Everything else she's ever touched has been a fraud and a catastrophe, why should her alleged musical abilities be any different? Think about it. Think about any event she's been even remotely involved in since you first heard her name. An endless string of threats and blundering and arrogant bluffs turned squalid pigfucks. It's not that she can't do her job; she can't do anything. I think when she plays piano the piano catches fire and the audience dies.
So yeah, sure, Condoleezza Rice for Vice President. Time's a wastin'.
But there's one other thing that we're always told to keep in mind when we consider Condoleezza -- I mean, besides her wondrous ability to play an instrument: Whatever happens, It's not her fault.
Sure, she ignored the warnings about bin Laden, and she was shoe shopping during Katrina, and she can't find her ass with her hands on Lebanon, or North Korea, or Pakistan. It's not her fault because those aren't her area.
Her field of expertise is the Soviet Union. Ask anyone at the Hoover Institute. She's just brilliant on the Soviet Union.
She's written books on the Soviets, a dissertation even! She speaks Russian. She has impeccable credentials -- for a top slot in the Ford administration.
So it's not fair to get down on her for her inability to handle Zimbabwe or Iran or Venezuela; George W. Bush needed her at his side in case Brezhnev came back.
And she was a woman and a minority, too! Which would have been really something, in about 1975. But, considering the Berlin Wall had fallen in 1989, making a Sovietologist National Security Advisor was like putting Pocahontas in charge of NASA.
During Dr. Rice's tenure, we've had a devastating terrorist attack and two wars. Peace between Israel and the Palestinians went nowhere, and Pakistan sold everybody the bomb. In 2000, there was serious talk about making Bill Clinton Secretary General of the United Nations. In 2008, Mexico and England are the only places Air Force One can land without dropping flares.
But it wasn't her fault. She was standing watch on the Danube.
She's been trained since birth to handle Russia. If a strongman ever took over there she'd box him in faster than you could say "détente." And if that strongman ever even thought about invading somewhere? She'd know about it, and she'd slap him down faster than you could say "containment."
Or maybe not.
GEORGIA ROUTED AS PEACE BID FAILS- Headline, Wall Street Journal 08/12/08
So where's Condi, while the French broker a peace treaty?
Has anyone checked the shoe stores?

There are two interesting things to consider here. The first is that Sec. Rice did not know about the Georgian-Russian war in advance.
The second? That she did.
The final nail in Condi Rice's professional coffin. That which is her strength turns out to be her greatest weakness. Loyalty over ability. Too sad.
More incompetents in high positions while the neo-con agenda of pirating a pillaging goes on.
Its all about more power and $$ for the already filthy rich. Its what America is and always has been all about. They barely pretend otherwise anymore. Screw baseball and apple pie.
Who wants Condi? I for one not me, I can't stand a woman who ca'n't think for herself, nor one that can't satisfy you in any way. She is the ephitome of a pleasure seeker at any cost without doing her part.
For those of you who don't know where Crimea is - it's a Hop, Skip and Jump from Georgia.......
It's also not too awful far from Iraq!
I feel like I'm watching a 2008 re-run of WAG THE DOG. Has anyone been looking into the bizarre timing of this conflict, not to mention the insanity of Georgia risking the wrath and expansionist desires of Putin. Just weeks ago, Karl Rove was apparently in Crimea on "vacation; Obama is away on vacation so McCain has full press availability to Huff and Puff while he drags his Georgian lobbyist buddy around with him. This stuff is really scary to me.... I guess I'm becoming a conspiracy theorist. after all.
It's just the White House up to their old tricks. It's a laugh a minute. Who needs Seinfeld?
I know Condi's college piano teacher. She was considering a career as a professional musician. She was a very average young player, but not good enough to go pro. He advised her not to try for a career as a pianist.
I tease him: "gee if you had encouraged her to stick with it maybe all those people would not be dead right now".
Dark, dark humor.
Bush surrounds himself with failures and incompetent yes men/women. It serves to make him look better, and it ensures that when they are asked anything their answer will always be:
HUH?
Or
I don’t know.
Or
I don’t recall.
Or
Bill Clinton did it.
Or
I completely agree with everything you say since you are such a smart man! Which is actually the scariest one of all...
i feel like we have too many problems to solve to spend time on these people--they are the past-- remember them so we don't repeat the mistakes--but move on and propose some solutions to the coming debacle-- i have one-- the moment Obama is elected, he must contact the UN and have them recind the exemption from proscecution of american politicians by the "War Crimes Tribunal"
The problem with this way of thinking is that it sets a precedent. We will NEVER impeach another president for anything EXCEPT partisan politics now. We will no longer be able to enforce Congressional subpoena's on presidential staffers. We will no longer be able to say that we are the president's boss. I hope that Obama is up to the challenge of restoring the rule of law to the White House, and that he is as strong as Washington was in setting precedent.
So glad to read this article. I've been waiting for someone to blast Condi since 9/11. About five minutes after news of the terrorist attack, I thought -- "oh, surely Condi Rice, the Nat Security Advisor, will be fired" It never happened. Speaking as a black female executive in corporate America, Rice is the ONLY black person in America (that I know of) who can get away with such wretched work-performance and stay on the job. It's surreal.
Sounds to me like her boss needs impeached- now, not tomorrow or the next day.
Look at it this way: If Obama fails to get the presidency, in 2012 the DNC can run Condi as their choice.
The Bush administration selected only those people who were blindly loyal, and who would not push any ideas of their own. They are not clueless, or even idealogues. They are the consumate seat holders who would hop on one foot while whistling Yankee Doodle Dandy, if asked to. Condi was the perfect window dressing for the SOS position.
Hence we have been treated to:
Condoleezza, who skipped the memo that Bin Laden would attack by plane;
Heck of a job Brownie, who should have stuck to horses
Monica Goodling, the HR nightmare who would weed out anyone who might not drink the cool aid
and finally, Alberto Gonzales, the Hispanic rubberstamp Lawyer; with no ideas, whatsoever.
Condi added the impramateur of being female and black. Bush, himself has been the biggest seat filler of all, selected for his weaknesses rather than strengths by the neocons and the corporatists who could get access, and write their own laws.
Well said. I've always maintained that Dubya was too stupid to be evil. Now Cheney, he's another story altogether. Back in 2000, the economy was humming along, we had had eight years of peace and unprecedented prosperity, plus there was a surplus in the Treasury. Smooth sailing, no matter who's at the helm. But the GOP had their collective panties in a wad over a BJ. We all knew Dubya wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but the feeling was Uncle Dick would keep him in line. Turns out Uncle Dick, along with his merry band of witless neocons, instigated of most of the nonsense that has since ensued. All to further enrich the few. Who'd a thunk it?
Couldn't agree more. She's the NSA and we get hit with 9/11. Bush promotes her to Secretary of State ("Doing a fine job, Condi") and Iran and N. Korea go nuclear...The Israeli's and the Palestinians go nuts, Pakistan gets put on our payroll for...why was that again? Now Russia and Georgia are at war. I thought Secretary's of State were supposed to be on top of more important things than a nice pair of shoes...Bush might be right in his thinking that the end is coming soon.
WHERE WERE ALL THESE SMART PEOPLE POSTING WHEN 'B' BUSH WAS ELECTED...AND TWICE ALSO.........MORE THE PITY AND TRAGEDY FOR THE AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO HAVE BRAINS AND COMMON SENSE............
Hey, we were doing our best. We DID our best and the elections were stolen, remember?
Bush was never elected to anything. Ohio in '04 was just as crooked as Florida in 2000. We can't let it happen again.
Wasn't she spotted shopping in NY City during Hurricane Katrina?
Yes. Shopping for Manolo Blahnicks after having been to see Spamalot.......while people die d in the streets of NO.
Real Secty of State material, eh?
To be fair, and its something I don't like being to Bush Admin lackeys, there were other people in the government on whom that failure more aptly rests, people who WERE at their posts but so incompetent they might as well have been show shopping with Condi.
If she went shopping more, maybe the permanent beauracracy below her, the carrer people who know something, would have a chance to fix things.
YO!!!!Shopping is the most patriotic thing an American can do according to the Deciderer in Chief.......
