The White House would not comment, but the couple are expected to honeymoon in Europe. After that, they plan to live in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse in Baltimore's Federal Hill. She plans to return to teaching, and he will work for Constellation Energy. -- Associated Press 5/11/08
Did you catch that?
I know. It should be "the couple is expected." It's like just writing about the Bushes makes you stupider.
No, not that. "Constellation Energy." Doesn't that mean anything to you?
Vaguely. Didn't Parliament-Funkadelic use it to power the Mothership?
You know I hate it when you talk about old people music.
Sorry.
Constellation Energy is the 33rd worst corporate air polluter in the United States.
Well, then there's nowhere to go but up. I'll bet Henry Hager will get them into the high twenties in no time. I can see beyond his accomplice-date-rapist good looks. That boy's a comer.
They also just happen to have an application with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to build the first nuclear power plant in America since Three Mile Island.
Just him and Jenna?
Constellation Energy. The company that's hiring Henry Hager. The President's new son-in-law.
You can't let anyone be happy even for a day, can you?
You know where they want to open their new nuclear reactor -- if they get permission? Calvert Cliffs. Fifty miles from the White House.
Well, unless they put it up before November, that's not really a Bush problem, is it?
And you know who's going to build it?
You know what bugs me about Henry Hager? People Magazine says when he wanted to marry Jenna, he talked to the other twin first. And then he asked George and Laura and "they kept the plan a secret from their daughter" for more than a month. Makes you wonder how he's handling the honeymoon, just one-on-one. Or if he's getting some folks from the hotel to hold her down.
Stop trying to change the subject. You know who's going to build Constellation Energy's new nuclear plant?
No, and I don't want to know. I just want it to all be over.
Here's a clue: They have over a billion dollars in cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts in Iraq, and ties to the Bin Laden family.
Please don't say "Bechtel."
The Bechtel Construction Co. of Frederick, Maryland.

Sooo, when it's his turn to run for preznit?
Yep...they got plans for this ole boy. Gotta keep the oil flowing. Politics, policies and secrets that's what our new and improved Government has become, he should fit right in. Oh yeah, congrates to bride and groom.
So - the standard tables have been reversed. It's the MALE in this couple who married money (or married power).
It is not the reverse... s father... in marrying Barbara Pierce
It also happened with George H W .....Bush'
History repeats its self !
Once again, I'm gonna have a heart attack from not surprise.
Actually, according to most style manuals (including AP), "couple" can be treated as a plural subject if the members of the couple are given separate actions, as in for example "The couple were playing tennis together." However, in the article you cited, the plural verb is acceptable because of the pronoun "they" in the following sentence, which clearly refers back to "couple." The alternative would have been to write "...the couple is expected to honeymoon in Europe. After that, it plans to live in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse. .." which certainly sounds worse than what was written.
Right. Saved me the trouble.
I love you, Pyfagorus!
Well, these energy companies will eventually be run out of business, or their influence over government seriously diminished by the green revolution.
The market will correct itself as republiCONS like to say. Yet it is their insane energy policies that will be corrected.
Those who want to be still in business in the coming years will work to build green energy infrastructure.
Probably the evil children of evil parents will fight against this tide, unfortunately.
You can't possibly believe that a nuclear power plant would be put out of business by the Green Movement. That's like believing that ANYONE is going to get us Universal Health Care in the next four years.
And the Green Movement is becoming so co-opted, the nuclear power plant will probably be put INTO business by it.
There is no "green revolution ." These businesses power your computer and coffee machine. They are in business because they deliver what people want. And this kid is going to work for them because he needs to pay bills like everybody else.
And if only the Republicans could get their energy policies enacted, this oil problem would solve itself. As for "green energy infrastructure", that's like breaking a bunch of windows and then saying: "Hey, look at all the window workers we just helped!" It's a waste of resources that would otherwise go towards efficient markets.
And if this kid is going to be linked to the bin Laden family because he is going to work for a firm that will hire a firm to build a plant that the kid's company will manage, then you can link every public employee in California to bin Laden because their retirement funds are riddled with investments in the same companies.
Marriages are the sweetest when they're arranged.
I bet she still spells it "LUV." When she's sober enough to hold a pen.
Too harsh?
I'm no fan of the Bushies, but nuclear energy would help ease air pollution. In terms of alternate sources of power, our population cannot be adequately served by solar and wind -- efforts in that direction in a limited scope are admirable, but in a larger scope are doomed. Nuclear makes the most sense for large (and growing) population centers.
That, or we could stop having so many kids. That'd be a big help, too.
We aren't having that many kids in the US.
Are you aware that without huge subsidies by the Federal government not a single lending institution will lend money for the building of a nuclear power plant? Why, because not a single one has made money. Because of nuclear power plants the price of electricity has gone up. As of today there is still not a safe place to put spent rods taken from nuclear power plants. They are not cost effective and they leave a by-product that is capable of killing humans for thousands of years. Now, would you like one in your back yard or near your childrens school?
You can do the wind thing- just keep it away from Teddy's house!
"Constellation Energy is the 33rd worst corporate air polluter in the United States."
Did you catch that? 33rd worst? Sounds like they're not very good at polluting, then.
I guess it all depends on how long the list is in the first place. Are there 34 on it or 734?
You missed the point, smart guy. I was reacting to Kelly's nitpicking of the grammar in the AP blurb. (He should have said, "Constellation Energy is the 33rd greatest corporate air polluter in the United States."
Money marries money.
Crooks marry crooks.
Crime-Family links up with Crime-Family.
Just another day for the Royalists.
Goodie! We've started our next dynasty generation! Henry Hager. OMG. Rove's aide. Just makes my skin crawl. A successful aid to that weasle has been richly rewarded. How much ya wanna bet he runs for president in a few years?
well, since it looks like "everyone agrees" that the Presidency belongs to two families, maybe Henry can run against Chelsea Clinton in 20 years? hmm... of course that's after Jeb , whose turn it will be after Hillary.
Hey! You're right! Now that'll be something!
There is already a nuclear power plant at Calvert Cliffs, so I don't see why you think its so significant that it is 50 miles from the Whitehouse.
Believe me, if Bechtel is going to build the new one, its distance from anywhere is significant.
That was funny! (Oh yeah, stop picking on those 30 year old "kids" too!)
Gee, that is almost as ironic as when they found out how much energy Al Gore's house was using.
Who is exactly is "they"?
A quick google would show you that CNN and all the major networks reported this story.
Thats who.
Wow, there is just no end to a persons ability to find reasons to hate....if they are determined to pump hate.
So working for any of the major energy companies is evil ehh. Very sad.
No, it isn't evil. Bushie defenders will attempt to paint every criticism of Bushie and his allies as hate.
What it is is telling that there are close andintricate connections to major polluters. It is also telling that the ties to the Bin Ladin group are still nice and tight.
However even the most rabid Bushie supporter must find something a bit weird about a man who gets everyone elses opinion before asking the woman who is supposed to be his partner in life to marry him.
Just whwn you think you can't hate the Bush family anymore than you already do...
Oh for Pete sakes! I'm an Obama dem, but this is just bad. LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE. I don't know Henry, but Jenna is a nice person who isn't sure who she's voting for. Don't try to pick their lives apart. No matter what they do, there will be those who make political mileage out of it. They just got married. There will be a time when they look at all the details more closely about everything, but now there is another focus. America is coming to a sad fork in the road if we won't even allow time for love. Jenna could have had the world's biggest bash of a wedding since Princess Diana. She chose outdoors, at home, in private and with simplicity. If you must link their love to carbon footprint, that must have saved enough to give them a break during their honeymoon. I'm just ticked off that you would try to make political mileage out of them.
Love?
Oh well many people use to love to take care of thier elderly parents until the oil companies needed higher profits.
I only know one thing about Henry, and it's enough. He's a Republican, he supports (or hasn't the guts to speak against) his dad-in-law's policies, and yet he's safe at home instead of armed and in uniform in service to his country.
First of all, they are not kids. Second, when Entertainment Tonight and every news orginization covered it, it not private. If Jenna wants her lot in life she will always vote Republican.

Oh, so it depends on who Jenna is voting for before you decide to degrade her, right? If she's voting for your hero, she's o.k. in your eyes; if she's voting for someone else, then forget her - you'll make fun of her, right? Forget the phoney compliments, please.
