Obama-Biden logo revealed

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

So it's official, Barack Obama picked Joe Biden, one of the most colorful characters out there.

BarackObama.com got the transformation right at 3 a.m. when Team Obama sent out the text messages. (Mine came in at 3:05.)

Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3 p.m. ET at BarackObama.com. Spread the word!

JoeBiden.com hasn't changed, and the Obama YouTube page still has the regular Obama logo.

This slightly bigger version is on the home page, which encourages supporters to send Biden a "welcome note."

The site reveals little into Obama's thinking for the decision, and I'm sure he'll outline it in depth during the Springfield event later.

When asking for donations, it states simply:

Barack has chosen Joe Biden to be his running mate.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the leaders who will bring the change our country needs. But they can't do it alone.
Show your support for the Obama-Biden ticket by making a donation today.

At 3:40, Team Obama sent over the text of an email that is winding through the series of tubes to supporters:

I have some important news that I want to make official.

I've chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.

Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois -- the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.

I'm excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can't do this alone.  We need your help to keep building this movement for change.

Please let Joe know that you're glad he's part of our team.  Share your personal welcome note and we'll make sure he gets it:

Well, can't talk about needing Washington outsiders. Can't hash the fact McCain voted for the War. Now, Senator Obama will have someone to show him where the men's room is.

The selection of Joe Biden lays groundwork for who McCain's VP candidate must be.

First, he must add to the ticket a strong woman who will appeal to all those enthusiastic women who supported Hillary and her contest.
Second, he should appeal to those pro-choice members of his party. Third, he must look to someone who will appeal to the blue states.
Fourth, he must geographically balance the ticket as well. . Fifth, he should look to someone who would pull votes in PA and the East. Fifth, the VP candidate should be someone with administrative skills, absent from both tickets at the present time, and Sixth, he should select someone who does not "stink" of Bush.

The person who fills this bill: Christine Todd Whitman.

She is strong: a former governor (two times) of New Jersey, she is pro-choice. Whitman quit Bush, but because she did not like his policies. She is a governor and therefore has been a top administrator. She is from the East as he is from the West. She hardly carries Bush's stamp of approval.

Most of all she is a WOMAN, someone who can fit in the image of Hillary and inspire the same female excitement that Hillary evoked.

She is the perfect choice for McCain's VP.

Would Bush Limbaugh scream? Of course, and the louder his screams the more the public will support Christine.

Terrible logo. And Obama's sky blue website is enough to make me wanna puke. Whatever happened to the good ol' Obama-Biden '08? Navy blue, red, add a star and you're set.

When you win the nomination for the dem party -- you can design the logo any way you want.
