Let the rumors begin.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows that 29 percent of Democrats would support Sen. Hillary Clinton running as an independent in the fall:
Thirty-eight percent (38%) of Democratic voters nationwide now believe that Hillary Clinton should drop out of the race for the White House. That's up slightly from 34% in late April, 32% earlier in April and 22% in late March.
However, if Clinton does not win the Democratic Party nomination, 29% of Democrats say she should run an Independent campaign for the White House. Sixty-one percent (61%) of Democrats disagree. Clinton supporters are evenly divided on the question.

I read the other day that 2/3 of all Repos think that George Bush is doing just
fine, thank you very much. So, there are quite a number of people in the Good
Ol' USA who have some very strange political ideas.
Obviously, not those of US who are proud members of the Obama Nation.
She should pick Ralph Nader as her VP. Then they could both slip into political oblivion where they belong.
So, two-thirds of Democrats would not support her in an independent run.
And this is supposed to be encouraging for her, how?
So, let's see...
Hillary loses
The party she claims to care about loses
and she ruins the Clinton legacy in the party
What's the point of this post?
That would put an end to her chances for 2012,
even though it would prevent Obama from winning.
So, there's no really likelihood of an independent run.
When was the last time an independent got elected? (Try, never!)
So let's get Ron Paul AND Bob Barr AND Ralph Nader AND Hillary going and see what happens.
Will this pare off the weirdass vote into appropriate splinters?
It would be nice to be able to collect the votes of the Sane Voters and see what percentage of Amerikans we actually represent.
LOL! Smart thinker!
Why would she want to destroy her career and reputation in this way? This is silliness.
Good luck with that.
She might get Lieberman's vote.
This very considerable percentage represents discontent not only with the prospect and direction(??) of an Obama candidacy but also discontent with the direction of the PARTY itself, obscessed with "identity politics," pandering to apologists for ILLEGAL ALIENS, and dithering over what to do about the continuing hemmorhage(sp?) of lives and $$ to the Iraq blunder.....
The Clinton Party has been attempting to divide and destroy the Democratic Party from the minute they realized she was not a viable candidate... so very long ago. Those who have bought into her delusion will perform their lemming dance on command. She is despicable. The all encompassing need to score her new and stronger power fix drives the definition for "addiction" to darker levels. Her damage to all real Democrats, is the epitome of self-serving politics.
She is a Republican posing as a Democrat.
If Barack Obama chose to snub her and her supporters at the convention, if the echo chamber of Democrats who suddenly hate Clinton (you know, all those people who voted for Bill back in the 90s but just can't quite stand them now in some holier-than-thou form of Obama-worship) continues with the vicious attacks about her, and if the Democratic Party continues to attempt to shove out someone who's only worked for their benefit during her time in the White House and Senate, then I would say that all those people would deserve it if Hillary Clinton went independent.
Barack Obama may be on his way to winning the nomination, but there's no mandate behind it. His numbers in many demographics (not "key", I don't think some party members are worth more than others) are just too low to allow him or anyone to make the claim that he "won" the primary with strength. The truth is he eked out a win based on Democrats not alloting delegates in a winner-take-all method and strength in caucus states (many in red states that won't go Democratic in the fall) that aren't true democratic elections.
That party is splitting on this issue, so it's important that the Clinton haters calm themselves down and accept that Hillary Clinton, and the voters who have supported her in an effort that has lasted this long, are also still Democrats and their wants and their needs should be addressed also.
I really don't think she would consider doing that.
But if she DID pull a "Lieberman" of that magnitude, it would be the most monstrous display of ego in human history.
This is insane.
