As Fashion Week kicks off in New York, Phillip Lim and Target are making their own show in celebration of their collaboration, with a massive instillation of the longest moving, interactive digital image. It opens tonight at 7 p.m. for the who's who of fashion.

After the huge flop of the Neiman Marcus Target partnership, where designers released items many felt were not in line with the designers' strengths, "over priced" and "cheap." Or in other words, it was weird, crappy stuff priced too high.

Target seems to be making sure that Lim's designs are at least not obscure. Phillip Lim is making some damn good knockoffs of, well, Phillip Lim. For around 10 times less.

Last year, I was at the Prabal Gurung for Target collaboration when the doors opened at 8:30am-in part because we needed diapers, but mostly because I am OCD about getting first dibs on these sales.

It was a good thing I was there in the Target parking lot bright and early, because the early birds got the neon heels (that we wore on our fashion blog here and here), and the bright floral blazers, and metal and leather sandals. The collection sold out in one day. Those pieces, thought true to Gurung's style and design, were not exactly same as his S/S line at the time and were priced almost exclusively under $75.

Lim's Target collection assuredly doesn't have the same luxury fabrics as his more expensive line, but the cuts and colors look very similar not only to the pieces pictured above, but also to many other items such as his yellow signature zipper bag, navy blue suit and black embellished dress. Lim's Target collaboration is also priced higher than Gurung's. Lim's range is $19.99-$299.99.

The collaboration officially launches in stores September 15th -- unless you live in Georgia where they got some deliveries early by accident. So, only time will tell how this collaboration of a designer designing his own knockoffs fares.

I will be out of town on the 15th. So enjoy it for me and let us know what pieces you picked up and if you like them or iflovethem!
