Free America From GOP Hostage Takers in Wisconsin

Wisconsin, the state where Scott Walker created a budget gap with a corporate tax cut then balanced the budget on the backs of working families, has a series of recall elections this month. First up, on Tuesday, 6 recall elections featuring 6 strong Democratic challengers, 5 of whom are pro-choice women. This is a chance to send a message nationally that workers' rights are human rights, and politicians that vote to take those rights away will pay the price at the ballot box, while creating real progressive momentum for 2012.  

As of yesterday, We Are Wisconsin PAC, which is the progressive labor coalition leading the recall campaigns, has tallied over 11,700 volunteers who have knocked on 437,235 doors and made 716,339 phone calls for a grand total of 1,153,574 attempts!

What happens in Wisconsin will not stay in Wisconsin -- it will spread across the country as a shining example or cautionary tale for President Obama. The stark contrast between the first two years and the last eight months of the Obama presidency comes down to one basic truth: elections have consequences. With a progressive Congress we saw a Recovery Act that created or saved 3.5 million jobs, healthcare reform, Wall Street reform, Don't Ask Don't Tell repeal, and unprecedented veterans benefits. With a tea party Congress we've endured a self-described "war" on women's health and "hostage" taking with the manufactured debt crisis.

I donated money to help progressives run ads against these "soon to be recalled" politicians. Tax refunds to the rich, union busting and the war against gov't workers was just too much!

Wisconsin has freed itself from the hostage takers, the unions no longer are controlling the paychecks of the taxpayers, unions no longer are getting a free ride on the back of taxpayers, unions are learning that they are no longer going to be allowed the entitlement lifestyle. Wisconsin has come out of the dark ages and we are proud of Governor Scott Walker for all of his work.

I think the people of Wisconsin are fed up with this regressive anti-worker nonsense in their state and are ready to put things back on track. We have their backs, but the people of Wisconsin will get it done.

I have it posted on my wall and donate to what I consider a very important cause for human rights and the economy not just labor. I am looking forward to these runoffs to ease the pain of the debt ceiling fiasco.

I wish I lived in Wisconsin just so I could do my part to combat the douchebaggery of Scott Walker. This dude is unbelievable. I'm really hoping that this recall effort lasts long enough to get him out of office.

i wish you lived here to we need aqll we can get to get this state back to normalcy. this will continue and we will re-call walker. there isn't a week that goes by that they don't pull some dirty stunt that only a sewer rat would do.
