A steady diet of cough syrup and falafels apparently can can do that to you.

During his Letters segment the other night, Billo read a nice email from another well-informed Fox viewer, this time from Ireland, who was just all broken up about being "forced" to watch Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War On Journalism in a class. If you haven't seen it, in a straightforward manner free of the kind of histrionics on display on the "No Spin Zone" every night, Robert Greenwald of Brave New Films (disclosure: they employ me) shows the pattern of bias in which Fox engages, skewing one of the key precepts of a fully-functioning democracy.

A free and fair press.

But Billo doesn't quite see things that way through is rose-colored glasses--still all soapy from a good loofah-ing I'm sure. To him, "any teacher who would order that is grossly irresponsible. It's dishonest garbage." Mind you, as usual, he can't supply a single specific about why it's "dishonest garbage." While, if this space were big enough, I could give you enough examples of distortions, political contortions, faux-bravado and the liberal use of showerware to fill an object the size of O'Reilly's head.

Watch his silly attack for yourself, and be the judge:

In any case, we'd like to thank you, Bill. Because being on your enemies list means we must be doing something right. It is quite an extensive and distinguished group.

These talk show hosts are entertainers.
I don't get my public policy ideas or beliefs from entertainers.
The use of empirical reason is lost on these folks...they may not even believe what they say they simply say things for ratings.

Not to put too fine a point on it or to be unnecessarily nit-picky, I think you've got it backwards: Billo has occasional OCCURRENCES of reason (and even then, only if politics, ethics, good taste or common sense are not involved).

A lot of folks land on O'Reilly because they are clicking around or like me look at, listen to or read a number sources not all or them opinions I favor. For a long time FOX just presented their programing better it was, objectively, better entertainment. Thankfully, MSNBC has found a market for content that tends toward the progressive. One would think a fair number of the unprogressive tune in to Olberman to get their blood pressure raised and that tendency floats both FOX and MSNBC boats.

So we know O'Reilly is a nut case with large pieces of nutshells between his ears. Why the surprise here.

Billo is what he is and that so many people listen and watch him is just beyond understanding. I don't know anyone personally who listens or watches him and I know a lot of people so I have no idea where these fans live. His viewpoints and blather are just on the edge of stupid or just really are so that value added to paying attention to him must be for laughes as he is boring and stupid as he claims to be whenever he opens the mouth. He hate Keith O so much now that is funny the rest is just noise he makes. Maybe the fans he does have are those who voted for bush and now claim they didn't.

The only dumber than O'Reilly is an O'Reilly fan. The kind of folks that hung with the bullies back in High School and egged them on when they picked on smaller, weaker kids. Gutless wonders really. Toadies. Followers. Never met a slur they didn't like. I guess you might say they are the kind of folks you really wouldn't want to have a beer with.

I've always thought that progressives or "moderate liberals" were the people who were the antidote to the monster that the GOP has become, but the more I see the "Ron Paul is insane" or only "nut-jobs" like Ron Paul BS, the more I have to reassess just how reasonable progressives really are.

Whether you agree with him or not, Ron Paul is a serious man with serious ideas, and to denigrate him or his supporters in the way that many do on this blog and other progressive blogs... well it's pretty disgusting, frankly.

I don't agree with RP on everything, but he is the ONLY candidate talking about monetary policy, and to me, stopping the Federal Reserve from destroying our currency should be priority #1 for all Americans -- unless you think it will be fun living at a significantly lower standard of living.

Tonight the dollar is plunging again, gold is near all-time highs - as is oil. It's exactly what Ron Paul has been warning about for years. When the dollar is no longer the world's reserve currency, we will suffer massive inflation and a severe economic crisis, and the only man trying to stop this calamity... is crazy. Right.

To be slurred by Mr. O'Reilly is a badge of honor. The only things better is to be attacked by William Kristol or Ann Coulter.

Bill O has a "new" little idea.
"Every teacher to undergo a polygraph each year...and maybe other mandatory tests".
So teachers are a good place to start polygraphing, if that meets no opposition, testing of all citizens should follow easily by our new Gestapo.
Another neocon dream being trotted out on Fox noose. They gotta hurry up, '08 is closing in.
If we don't want
water-boarding, at least we would take painless lie-detector tests, right?

When O'Reilly is criticized as a provocateur or dishonest, he always discounts the criticism unless one provides specific examples. Yet, he scorns the movie "Outfoxed", anything by Michael Moore, and the Media Matters website, without ever providing a specific example. He just mindlessly repeats they are "vile" and "despicable." He is a jumble of contradictions, lies, and hypocrisis, and does not even have the courage to admit he is a rabid conservative.

okay, I don't like oreilley any more than the next guy, but that particular clip is useless for me to determine what he said. In the post you say that he's unable to come up with any examples of the movie being "dishonest garbage" but you don't show him trying either. Now, if he didn't try, you should have shown more of the clip, so that we could compare for ourselves....

What's with the "momentary" in your headline? I've always thought that Bill-O suffers from a "permanent" lack of reason.

What a hoot !
That's right - the O'Reilly Christmas extravaganza is right around the corner.

And I feel your pain for Ireland. And I believe I read that just last month the largest cable provider in Israel switched from offering CNN to Fox News. (Not much of a change given CNN these days.)

Where can I sign up to be on this 'Enemies List'? I am on the side of Robert Greenwald, Brave New Films, Michael Moore, The Families of 9/11 victims, The Troops, Whistle-blowers, Valerie Plame Wilson, Keith Olbermann, Al Gore, Dennis Kucinich, John Edwards, the middle class, women, minorities, ACLU, PFAW, MoveOn.org, Media Matters, France, The Geneva Conventions, The Bill Of Rights, The Constitution and The Truth so I am obviously BlahBlah O'Lieley's Enemy.

Fox News: As fair as a Florida election. As balanced as Ann Coulter when she's off her meds.
