It's pretty clear that Crying John Boehner's most recent inane statement dismissed the sacrifices made by our troops in Iraq. He labeled almost 4,000 deaths and thousands upon thousands of physical injuries, cases of psychological trauma and numerous suicides among active military--a result of being lied into war by his party and it's contributors--a "small price."
Well, of course, that depends upon who's doing the paying. And it's never chickenhawks like Boehner, Bush, Cheney, McConnell, Giuliani, DeLay, Thompson, Gingrich, O'Reilly, Hannity and America's newest Partridge Family, The Traveling Romneys!
No, they let the riff-raff do their fighting for them while they sip brandy and eat mini-crab rangoon appetizers at parties thrown by war profiteers.
Now Boehner is insulting our troops all over again, not apologizing about what he said, but brazenly lying and hoping nobody will notice. Boehner's claiming that he was only talking about the "money" involved in the war, and not the lost lives.
Not only is that obviously a lie. But I guess he means the gazillions spent in Iraq, and not on levees in New Orleans or bridges in Minneapolis or catching Osama bin Laden--so more Americans can needlessly die on his watch--is no biggie.
Well I guess it's not...For him.

How does John Boehner pronounce his last name?--
is it "Bayner" or "Boner," the latter a slang expression meaning a big mistake.
We need to become more interactive. Me of all technologically challenged on the net. It's time for Bill gates to get with the media and devise a way to vote these idiots out as soon as they show their servitude to Corporte America or this mad mens agenda. Use the American Idol approach to Democracy. That will weed out the poloitical whores and idiots- and they may actually realize they work for US and need to sing the songs we tell them too.
There are a lot of inanities floating around this insane nation. One is the projected attack on Iran that is totally unjustifiable and evil. But who among your 'opposition' heroes is doing anything about it?
That is inane.
We are a nation which will do anything those Neos want, but nothing good for the working Americans.
I've heard enough blather about our wonderful entrepreneurs. There are two truths thasat we could contemplate a bit before the next time that idea comes up in a political discussion: (1) almost all the great wealth acumulations in the country began with criminal activities. (Some were not criminal at the time but were later recognized as such. Some were crimes at the time) (2) All the great wealth expansion done in this country was done in cooperation with a benevolent government. (And there is still all that BS about welfare for the poor and needy. The rich get a lot more from our taxes.)
That is insane.
What is the deal with Republicans and crying. You got Boehner crying, Bush says he cries all the time, I think it was Voinichich who cried in the Senate, Duke Cunnningham, there was someone in the House of Reps. who cried when giving a speech about the war.
Here's one explanation for their weepiness. These are highly immature individuals who are used to getting their way, but the minute their will is thwarted they break down in tears---which is yet another way they have of manipulating others to get their way.
Once again I'm reminded of Siegfried Sassoon's great WW I poem, "Base Details." The ironic ambiguity of the title is intentional, of course. (Incidentally, despite his German first name, Sassoon was a Scot who died fighting for the British Empire during that war.)
If I were fierce, and bald, and short of breath,
I’d live with scarlet Majors at the Base,
And speed glum heroes up the line to death.
You’d see me with my puffy petulant face,
Guzzling and gulping in the best hotel,
Reading the Roll of Honour. ‘Poor young chap,’
I’d say—‘I used to know his father well;
Yes, we’ve lost heavily in this last scrape.’
And when the war is done and youth stone dead,
I’d toddle safely home and die--in bed.
PItty it has taken so long for the press to figure the Bushies out.
But now that some of you have, keep telling it like it is, and call them by all the names they deserve, till every last American realized that these people are a very large very wealthy, very powerful crime family.
Only them, if it is not too late, maybe Americans and the world will join forces to stop them and jail them in the darkest holes we can find.
"A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking some real money". A great quote from the Seventies. I know it came from Congress but the source escapes me.
Anyway, it seems like Boehner has just updated that by replacing "billion" with "trillion". We ain't hit a trillion yet, so we're still working on getting in to the real money range on this Iraq adventure.
Remember back when there was going to be no financial cost to this thing? The Iraqi's were going to love us, bust their butts to move a ton of oil out on to the world market, and then pay back every penny we spent "helping" them. The problem with that theory, though, was that dumping an extra several million barrels per day of crude on the market would have tanked the price, and we would not have gotten repaid even if things had gone as “planned”.
Which proves that the original "plan" was actually a lie, and that things really are more on schedule than anyone in a leadership position in this country has the willingness to admit. Well, I guess that Boehner is not as bashful on this subject as the others, but the point still seems perfectly valid.
Oh, the other old saying was "you can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs". So, we're up to, what, 3800 eggs, but since this is quite a sizeable omelet, everything actually is a very manageable sacrifice.
"Bingo" Boehner has it all right on the money!
I believe the quote is attributed to Everett Dirksen, Senator from Illinois.
Gracias amigo!
The quote originated with the late great Senator Everett Dirkson, and I believe it was earlier than the 70s. When I was young and foolish (now I'm just young), Sen. Dirkson had a radio show with Jerry Ford, who was a U.S.
Representative then, and never dreamed he'd one day become President.
