We wrote this song and made this video in the run-up to the 2008 election. We wanted to to sound a note of caution that the fix was in, and Karl Rove would call in his chit for fundraising for Lieberman's last reelection, sending the Senate back into Republican hands for the remainder of George Bush's term, where they could have wreaked untold havoc.
Now, in the face of Mr. Joe-Mentum's daily antics to derail Healthcare Reform, people are scratching their heads wondering what he's thinking. Joe sees himself as a latter-day Spartan at Thermopylae, doing everything he can to keep the barbarians from getting past him. The Senator from Aetna realizes that there's no way he'll get reelected in 2012 (he couldn't even win the Republican primary), so he's setting himself up for a really cushy lobbying job for the industry that he holds nearest and dearest in his heart!
