Here's Why Paris Is Always A Good Idea

One of the best things you can do in Paris is to get lost, on purpose. You read that right. Ditch the map and start exploring, you'll be surprised how many hidden gems Paris has.

Paris is an ideal city for every college tourist and here's why:

Let's talk food.

The food in France is beyond amazing. While aliments like bread and cheese might sound quite ordinary, they are extraordinary in France. You will see people carrying baguettes in the morning fresh from the patisserie. Also, while in Paris make sure you try escargot; you'll be surprised with just how delicious snails can be. There are endless options for food in Paris and they will not disappoint. Don't forget a delicious glass of French wine with your meals!

The iconic Eiffel Tower.

The iconic Eiffel tower is a must in Paris. When visiting in the summer, one can enjoy a lovely picnic on the lawn of the Champs de Mars with the magnificent view of the Eiffel Tower. If the season happens to be winter, there's an ice skating rink on the lower level of the tower. Can it get more romantic than that?! Also, every hour after sunset the tower is light with sparking lights!

Walking along Champs Elysées.

This boulevard in the 8th arrondissement of Paris is known for its theaters, cafes, and luxury shops. It hosts parades throughout the year and during wintertime you can enjoy Christmas markets all along the boulevard where they sell arts, crafts, food, and many other goodies.

The beautiful Arc de Triomphe.

Getting a picture with this beautiful structure can be a little tricky given that the Arc de Triomphe sits in the middle of a busy intersection, at the western end of the Champs Elysees and at the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle. This beautiful monument stand at 50 meters in height and is definitely a must-see in Paris.

Shop 'til you drop.

Paris is a city of fashion capital of the world. Let's face it; a huge part of the fashion world involves French designers from Coco Channel and Christian Dior, to Jean Paul Gaultier and Louis Vuitton. The fashion in this city is so vibrant it will not go unnoticed. Paris is basically fashion itself. The shopping in this city is an unforgettable experience. There are huge luxury shops and also adorable local boutiques.

Art, art, and more art.

Paris is a cultural powerhouse. I mean, let's face it, France has Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Vincent Van Gosh, Marcel Duchamp, and André Derain, among hundreds of other French artists with revolutionary influence in the world of the arts. Paris is home to the Musee d'Orsay and The Louvre among other amazing art museums. If you decide to go explore an art museum, especially like the Louvre, make sure you go in without the expectation to see it all because there's just so mush art, you can go 10 times and still not quite see it all. There are also endless art exhibitions all year round throughout the city; it is a big part of Parisian culture.

Au naturel.

Paris has more than 400 exquisite parks and gardens. You'll have endless options of parks to explore. There's the Luxembourg Gardens, the Jardin du Champs-Élysées and newer modern gardens with beautiful botanical displays. Parisian flora is one for the books!

Night out!

Enjoy the nightlife! There are tons of bars and clubs all over Paris. Find a cool "disco" and dance the night away. Paris has a vibrant nightlife so make sure you get a taste of it while visiting.

History Overload.

One cannot run out of history to explore in Paris. There are numerous historical monuments, museums, and sites to see. Take some examples: the gorgeous Pantheon, the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacré-Cour, Les Invalides, or the magnificent Palace de Versailles. There's also the Place de la Concorde, Sainte Chapelle, the remains of Bastille, along many others. This city is richer than rich in history and every monument and place involved is exquisite.

Strolling along the Seine.

Ah the lovely Seine... This river runs through the heart of Paris and there are 32 bridges on the river in the city alone. The riverbanks are worth exploring; you'll find quaint little cafes, restaurants and benches along the riverbanks of the Seine. It's quite a sight!

Get Lost.
