Cain thinks that just because "$9.99 " sells Pizzas he can get it to sell him into the Presidency.
Well his fool's rhetoric has ailenated the black vote, seinors certainly don't want thier soc sec and medicare taken away as he would do, Latinos probablly don't like his electrified fence warnings and he Cain LMAO good luck with the southern "Bubba" vote.
But in all seriousness Cain is selling a book not running for the Presidency, even his big ego and boisterous noise couldn't get him elected in a 100 years and he knows it. Although all the Koch brothers money just might if he has the guts to play the game.....American voters are notoriuous about voting against thier own best interest when bombarded with false adds and promises. Time to take that money OUT of our politics!!

Basically, if it won't fit on a bumper sticker, it is beyond the comprehension of a teavangelical. Cain's plan, having only one word/number, is perfect. No one knows what it means but they have been told it raises taxes on the poor and lowers them for the rich, and that is good enough for them. Besides, it is easy to chant and that is all that really matters.

Of course,Democrats will hate the flat tax because they won't have any monopoly money to control the masses with their agenda and get the votes.

Mark:

You may want to do a post on the Gallup polling to which you passingly linked above.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/150185/Cain-Maintains-Positive-Intensity-Recognition-Grows.aspx?utm_source=alert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=syndication&utm_content=morelink&utm_term=Politics

Cain previously enjoyed the best positive intensity (approval - disapproval) of any of the candidates, but was limited by a 48% name recognition. In short, he had a small, but enthusiastic fan club.

Over the past month of press coverage, Cain's name recognition has spiked by 21 points to 69%. One would expect that his positive intensity score would moderate as he added folks outside of his fan club. In fact, his positive intensity has also surged from +22 to +34. This means his fan club is growing and becoming even more enthusiastic.

The establishment candidates Romney and Perry are making a big mistake dismissing Cain and engaging in a mutual cage mud wrestling match. Iowa and NH are just around the corner and the sunny Cain is picking up the voters they are alienating.

Cain's name recognition has surged by 20% over the past month

Yes, the republicans do need to nominate someone who wants to eliminate social security and medicare and raise taxes on the poor and middle class. This Democrat is begging you to nominate him.

When BO wins in 2012,righty is going to realize that the tp was a bad idea, and has eliminated the possibility of an electable Republican. Too bad, evil beeotches.
11:20 PM on 10/18/2011
I think I can clear things up for righty: Cain's plan is FOR THE WEALTHY, and AGAINST EVERYBODY ELSE. There: you can quit straining your tiny, tiny brain, righty politician. You're all for it - although Romney may be smart enough to deny that FACT.

Obviously that 44% have no idea what is in the 'plan' or don't care enough to investigate its contents. Every legitimate economist who has run the figures says that the plan is terribly flawed and will do nothing that Cain seems to think it will. Given that the guy who came up with this radical idea is not even an economist makes the plan even more suspect.

Cain is a wealthy man, so he will benefit greatly from his plan while the rest of the country will suffer immensely.

Republicans don't care about Cain's plan. They have a plan of their own. They think they have the perfect storm: They have a Black Man to run against a Black President, thinking that will bring in the Black vote. Opps! It is not working. The Republican Congress know that they will be able to control Cain. You would think that would have learned from their big surprise (Sarah Palin) in 2008.

9-9-9 is such a joke. Maybe 1% of the American electorate would be able to calculate how it would affect us, personally and nationally, and yet Republicans blithely offer opinions on it. Sometimes our stupidity is staggering!

I'm a progressive DEM

But looking at these clowns, one thing is super-apparant

Mitt is far and away, the only one that seems remotely Presidential
AND
The relentless attacks, I think are actually helping him.
His answers are almost always really good
. . . and He does a great job of staying cool, and maintaining composure

I do not support Mr. Romney, and have many, many problems with him
. . . but he is the only one of them, that could be remotely acceptable

Figure it out. 10 and 15 percenters will be paying more. 28 percenters and above will be paying less. Go ahead, cut you throat and vote for cain. Then enjoy, because it's too late.
09:16 PM on 10/18/2011
So 44% of republicans either didn't think about this for 5 minutes before believing this would help solve the nations financial woes or can't do math at all and 36% either did or can. Not that completely overhauling the nations tax code, especially at this time, is of any importance...

Well it is nice to know that many of the GOP think raising taxes on the poor, elderly and middle class by as much as 300% while making significant reductions (50%) to taxes on the wealthy is a good policy, it will be up to the voters to determine if Cain is worth their new tax burden or not.

I suspect many folks will choose to not pay more and so Cain will not go far.

But as a DEM I really hope he gets the nomination and has to face the middle class and the 99% of us who will pay dearly for his 999 plan.

THE FLAW IN YOUR POST IS: "that many of the GOP think . . ."

those GOP'ers aren't thinking, or analyzing ANYTHING

The GOP'ers are Social-Issue-Voters ( or as they prefer Values-Voters)

Any economic arguments just go straight past them as if you were talking to a a fire-hydrant

THEY JUST SUCH DOWN THE REPUB ECON-TALKING POINTS
. . . and in some braindead fake-belief way, they
pretend that they buy into the argument that by allowing their right-wing leaders
. . . work their magic unimpeded, we will all become millionaires
except for liberal slackers
