Yes some young people were forced to join the Hitler Youth, but I would guess 50% did so very very willingly. Another 45% did so because it was what everyone else was doing. Only 5% joined unwillingly. Many may have not understood the true nature of Hitler, but these young people were anti-Semitic, and worse. I don’t remember who said (Winston Churchill?) and I’m not quoting totally correctly but All evil needs to success is for good men to do nothing. That is what the other 45% did.

I don’t believe that Pope Ben was “forced”. I believe and would hope that a young man with the spark of holiness to become a priest and the future Pope would have a stiffer back bone and be able to say NO to such evil. I would hope that such a teenager would stand up for the few, refuse to agree to go along with wrong doing? Remember this wasn’t going to be just another man; this was a youth with the holiness to rule some day The Holy Roman Catholic Church.

To join the Hitler’s Youth you swore an oath to Hitler…not to God and country. I hope the oath he took when he was made Pope had more meaning, then that he was elected, so he went along.

So was he a Nazi? … he took the oath and joined didn’t he ... willingly or unwillingly ... he stood before God (isn’t God everywhere) and joined.

You forgot the quotes around "spark of holiness".

The church in Rome at the time was firmly pro-Nazi. There would have been no inherent contradiction for the young Nazi pup between joining and being a Catholic.

True about the quotes, and true about the church being pro-Nzai, but there is only so much you can say in the space alotted.

He was also in the army from 1943-1945 (conscripted). He was part on an anti-aircraft unit at a BMW factory which used slave labor from a concentration camp.

Re: "Sarandon is the lowest of slanderers."

Of all the slanderers in the world, she is the lowest? How do you figure? I've seen posts where you slander Protestants, so I wonder, where do you fit on this scale? Are you near Sarandon? Or farther up the scale?

Well then the Bible should be outlawed then. Being called a nazi when you were one, is small.
People hate the truth.
The book of Dan and Rev. gives the attributes of the anti-Christ ( little horn) and what do you know, the pope and only the pope fulfills all the criteria and only the pope.
This isn't hate speach. Its Bible facts

Re: "Its Bible facts"

Conservatives have used Daniel and Revelation to slander all sorts of people with the term "anti-Christ" always claiming that "its Bible facts." Of course, the person they slander in this way changes from decade to decade. But in truth, your statement says more about yourself than it does about the Bible.
06:34 PM on 10/20/2011
Jesus Christ once died for people's sins but I think he did so because he knew he could resurrect.
Is this Nazi matter sinful or not? Worth to die for? It depends on where you come from, who your are. It's worth nothing for me to die for. But what I want to do is to absorb the anger, the hatred, the madness of all sinful/non-sinful people about the Nazi matter.
Think of Nazi like a rock pelting at my body. Please call me Nazi 100000000000000000 times, please also call me Hitler 200000000000000000 times so we will not hear this Nazi that Nazi again in movies, on TV, in magazines, on radio, in talk shows, interviews, online, offline.

Here is some new Catholic news and may actually give Susan's comment some credence but I actually agree with what this Bishop says and hope the Pope does also and not bow to Jewish leaders. This Bishop has cause controversy before by speaking about the holocaust and was excommunicated but then brought back and now he is saying this which is the truth taken directly from the Bible
"Bishop Richard Williamson wrote in his weekly post, that "the killing of Jesus was truly 'deicide' " and that "only the Jews (leaders and people) were the prime agents of the deicide because it is obvious from the gospels that the gentile most involved, Pontius Pilate, … would never have condemned Jesus to death had not the Jewish leaders roused the Jewish people to clamour for his crucifixion."

Now why would that give Sarandon any more credibility? That IS the Gospel account. And it is perfectly consistent with what we know about relations between Pilate and the Judean leaders. Denial of it, casting the blame on Rome is NOT consistent.

The only reason why i said it might give her credibility is because it is in line with what she said and propable would only bolster their point. Personally I think Susan is horrible for calling someone of his sacred stature such a horrific thing and it is beyond logic since the Catholic church caters to the jewish religion more now then it ever did. The vatican council 2 basically has put the chuchs hand into satan by helping in weakening it by its policies.
07:29 PM on 10/21/2011
Well Jesus was known and growing in following as being called, King of Kings now would Pilate not be threaten by that? What was written and hung on the cross over Jesus head., King of the Jews? done so to mock Jesus thus Pilate boasting now look at your King, (weak?)  I am  your King, you think? It was political more so?  Pilate was a pagan and wanted also to be worship as a divine god.

During the war, the vatican admired the nazi's particularly their leader. they gave the nazi's detailed locations of where to find the people for "the final solution". After VE day they aided some for their escape from allied forces.
05:55 PM on 10/20/2011
So it's NOT okay to call the Pope a Nazi when he actually was one at one time in his life, (youth group I know) but it IS okay to call President Obama - "Hitler"....just saying

Turn over to Faux news and you can hear the word Nazi being flung out on a regular basis. So I guess it's okay for media types, who should have some professional standards, but not for an actress, when technically, she's right. She didn't actually accuse him of being involved in the holocaust, only of being Nazi, which he was.

No....he may have been a German soldier, but to be a Nazi you would have needed to join the party upon adulthood....and the war was over prior to then.

Either you don't watch Fox news and are repeating something you heard somewhere or you don't mind lying if it helps you make a point. I have watched Fox quite a bit and can't recall ever hearing one of their anchors call anyone a Nazi. Granted, I have not seen everything ever on Fox, but if they are calling people Nazi "on a regular basis", I would think I would have heard it once.

Anyone who can go into a third world nation and look at starving kids and tell the people that birth control is wrong may not be a Nazi but they might as well be. What Popes do in this way is inhumane and heartless. So I see the connection
05:17 PM on 10/20/2011
Catholics believe in abstinence and the rhythm method as birth control. Just ask my mother who had five children. I went to Catholic school with kids who had 11 siblings; now that's just hard on a woman.

FYI, not all Catholics listen to the pope on this issue. He's not inhumane or heartless, it is just his belief.
