SOCIALISM IS AWESOME

They're all conservative states. no coincidence there.

Wow. Not very surprising that all (with the exception of D.C.) are Red States. Just goes to show that Republicans do not have any idea how to create a robust economy and fail at it almost every chance they get. I think that, based on statistics alone, Republicans should be told "No, you are not allowed to be in charge of anything anymore (not even a popsicle stand) because of your proven and continued record of failure." And every time one of them tries to argue otherwise, we should point back to the charts/statistics and show them why their ideas are no longer allowed to be put into practice.

You made a great point here.

Thank you; I appreciate that.

The rule for a successful economy - do the exact opposite of what republicans think we should do to fix economy. Stick with that plan and you can't go wrong.

The residents of DC have no representation in Congress, which is one of the reasons they live in poverty.

9 of 10 are red, correct? No worries, they will keep voting red. Self hating is part of the GOP agenda. Hate yourself? Vote GOP.

the bulk of them aren't just red -- they are deep red. Arkansas and New Mexico flounder on the line a lot, and DC is a mess, has been for decades. Its a classic model for "white flight" as even most jobs moved out of dc proper. Some of the wealthiest suburbs in country are across the border in VA.

Except for the fact that whites are moving into the district very quickly right now, and are the fastest growing part of the population.
The poverty in DC is highly concentrated in one area of the city at this point, which is the SE quandrant, more specifically anacostia. What has become a popular refrain lately "anywhere east of the anacostia". DC has a ton of development and gentrification happening right now, and the NW quadrant and capital hill have always been fairly well off. While there is a high poverty level, the average and median wage within the district is higher than the national average. There is also a much higher precentage of those with bachelors and graduate degrees. Basically there is a highly polarized population and income within the district.
Many people who are outside of the DC area make assumptions about the City, without really understanding what is going on here.
DC has both greater wealth and greater poverty than the rest of the country. Flight is not happening here anymore though. The problem is the rising tide is not helping everybody out, those who are in the SE are not doing as well as the rest of the district. It is a struggle to live in the area without a college education, and those who do the best often have graduate educations.

How about listing all of the states.
This country has turned into third world America.
I don't think there are any states out there without huge portions of their population living in extreme poverty.

We are seriously on the decline as country.
