She drew the lines to close to right. Can't have that. If we are not winning no matter how then someones head will fall. Brewer is a joke.

This broad should get a broom and ride off into the sunset on it. If she wants to portray a better image to the public, the least she can do is get a facelift. Arizona Republicans are like the days of the wild west. It's either my way or the highway and they will do ANYTHING to accomplish that. YUK!

I was just thinking the same thing. I went to "Webster's" and looked up Old Crone, and Brewers picture was at the left of the definition.

Me too. I didn't go to Webster's, but I was thinking that she didn't even need to get into costume for Halloween.

Arizona is a state that has problems with its housing market. High unemployment and a budget problem yet Jan has not done a very good job has she.

You are very wrong. We have a surplus now, thanks to Brewer's management. The last Dem governor left us in huge debt, similar to Obama's spending sprees. That is now disappearing. http://www.azpm.org/business/story/2011/9/2/1830-brewer-pay-down-state-debt-with-states-early-surplus/

Well let me put it this way reading that I will admit when I am wrong but on the other hand Obama is not the only politician that spends lots of government money. It is not a one sided issue when it comes to government spending and both the republicans and democrats are at fault for government spending.

She had the support of most of the country on her immigration issue, then started taking advice from the Quayles. The only way in the world she'll ever win another election will be if it's rigged. Apparently it will be.

Since 2010 there are more and more states that I think that way about, and I am seriously considering leaving the one in which I reside.

You have to give it to Arizona's governor...she comes from the take no prisoners school of politics - too bad she works for the "Dark Side". Again I suggest do not travel to Arizona and do not patronize busnesses in Arizona until Arizona becomes a democracy again.

Well sadly, I think she just may win this one.  I pulled up the Arizona Constitutional amendment that created the independent commission, and if she can prove that there was no transparency in their deliberations, she'll win this round.

(10) After having been served written notice and provided with an opportunity for a response, a member of the independent redistricting commission may be removed by the governor, with the concurrence of two-thirds of the senate, for substantial neglect of duty, gross misconduct in office, or inability to discharge the duties of office.
http://www.azleg.gov/const/4/1.p2.htm

It sounds like Brewer's failure to serve 30 day written notice might cause the Appellate Court to consider overturning her decision, but then she'll just go back and do it over again.

Checks and balances don't matter when the entire system is owned by one party.

Reality Check
11:09 AM on 11/08/2011
And the right wing extremist want more states rights! The failure to accurately remember the history of our country has resulted in the election of a Jan Brewer. It is the unfair treatment of American citizens; be it the immigration of the Irish, Civil Rights, Women's suffrage, even natural disasters, improving interstate transportation, etc., that mandates the Federal government’s action. Where the states elected officials are only concerned with the local political landscape, and/or their own personal agenda's at the expense of the average American; it has been the Federal government that has been the protective arm of the people. Those that would argue for more states rights aren't truly aware of the potential for tyranny and as a result are ignorant of the facts and lessons taught by the nation’s history and its guiding force of progress. Jan Brewer and state republicans around the country are attempting to tip the scales of lady liberty. If a party conspires to control the government through redistricting, new voting regulations and misinformation - all back door methods to defeat an honest open election - does one really want to know how such politicians would use that power? Republican seeks absolute control and the power it would give. Any thinking adult knows, absolute power - corrupts absolutely.

gerrymandering is alive and well across our nation. Of course both parties have been and continue to be guilty of redistricting to their own advantage...and, in today's political climate, who would expect anything else. Brewer is exercising her executive powers to oppose a redistricting she sees as unfavorable to the GOP....no real news here. Were the situation exactly the same, but the proposed changes benefited the GOP, she'd be defending them. The first rule of politics today is simple" amass as much power as possible and then use it to benefit your favored special interest groups.....I must respect that GOP political leaders such as Brewer are being transparent with their intent and actions....they may be unprincipled, but no one can accuse them of being sneaky....

The Rule of Law is an important part of the US Constitution and a defining feature of civilized, democratic societies in the world. Arizona is, of course, neither.
