According to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), nearly 75 percent of all child custody awards are made to the mother. Only about 10 percent of child custody awards are made to fathers. The rest of the child custody awards involve some sort of joint custody arrangement. Most men want to be men and take care of thier children. Equality, where is the equality in joint shared custody

You are simplifying very complicated issue. There are reasons women are awarded child custody more than men.

There is nothing complicated about it. There is a bias in Family Court.

The conclusions drawn by mdipary2004 are grossly incorrect, a misinterprestation of the data and lacking in underlying facts.

More women are awarded custody of children because most fathers do not want or seek custody of their children. Indeed, according to the Justice Department, HALF of divorced fathers do not pay their child suppot obligations. And many divorced fathers stop having contact with their children, they are too busy having fun, drinking or starting new families. Many men seem to feel that if they are no longer have sexual access to their children's mothers, they no longer need feel any obligation to their chidren.

When men do affirmatively seek custody of their children in court, they are most often successful in getting custody. In part this is because men have greater financial resources and can afford to hire more expert witnesses and witnesses. So, the reality is that when men want cusotdy, they are favored to win.

Half of fathers in this country pay no child support at all, a fact that totally undermines your baseles opinion that most men want to "take care of thier (sic) children."

@whale... Thats alot of hot air. The fact is fathers ask for joint shared custody but are denied. The cases where fathers do get joint shared custody is because mothers have allowed it. The fathers that do have full custody never recieve child support and the state will not help them get the child support, there is no advocate for men in the family court like there is for women.

I didn't miss any point. This self-hating men think all men, even the ones born into poverty, don't deserve any credit for their success and should think that women are automatically superior. Sorry, not buying it.
