Bless her eighty-eight year old heart... She really was something in her day. All the best to her...

She did it all, drama, comedy, musicals. There will never be another song like 'Once I Had
a Secret Love'. Not in my book anyway. She's a classic.

mo, Did you ever see her in Pajama Game? She really COULD do it all! Matched with John Raitt, (Bonnies' dad), who had a magnificent voice, she held her own!.

I believe she's called Ms. Kappelhoff these days.
Her original family name.

Good for her. A classy lady and a national treasure.

I loved meeting her at one of the Pet Foundation events in Carmel a few years ago. What a wonderful lady. One of my favorite photos from that event was one of my late partner and I with Miss Day. Many favorite films I have include one that is a stand-out. Midnight Lace. Not a note was sung, but what a performance! Maybe sometime soon I will get back up to Carmel. Until then, IT"S A BEAUTIFUL "DAY". Cheers.

"Midnight Lace" is really a wonderful movie. I like the one "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon", too. She did a movie with Frank Sinatra that is also a good movie. I love watching her and hearing her sing.

I want to know why Ms. Day has not been honored with a Kennedy Center award. She is a national treasure and I believe that would be the perfect recognition.

I wondered that today, I had read the article this morning and that was the first thing I thought. Maybe they offered and she declined. It's a good question.

She is a beautiful woman, inside and out. A golden voice that was already legendary during the Big Band era.

I always liked her and then liked/admired her even more after Rock Hudson was diagnosed with AIDS - he and she had a visit and she was photographed with him and as it was at a time when there was a lot of fear about the disease and people who had it, it made an impact for the public to see her with him. Classy lady. Same thing that Elizabeth Taylor did with Hudson as well, though Taylor got very active in raising awareness and money for AIDS.

She's 88 years old and I don't think she has been seen in public for many years - so, to me, I imagine her looking like she did a long time ago. I hope she is healthy.

Back in the day....I once lived in Monterey. It wasn't all that uncommon to run into Ms Day, Kim Novak, Clint Eastwood, Allen Funt, John Denver, Michael Parks, Maurice White, Joan Fontaine, etc. For the most part they were left alone to live their lives.

She truly is one of the greats. I love her music and her films, including the incomparable Hitchcock classic "The Man Who Knew Too Much".

Nice to see all the positive comments. None of the snarky insults. Guess there are some American treasures that are above reproach!

Might I offer a less than flattering comment? My mom said that every one of Doris Day's movies were the same: she played the eternal virgin. Naturally, my mom loved the James Bond movies when they came out, with all the sex that they contained.

I have always loved her movies! She had perfect comedic timing. She had a lovely melodic voice. She is still a class act! Welcome back, Miss Day. Your fans have missed you!
