I was a student at BYU-Idaho. Can I just say that honestly (...and no one is pressuring me/brainwashing me to write this!!) girls are more attractive to me when they dress in such a way that it does not appear that they are trying to get attention from their bodies. It shows that a girl has a confident personality, and doesn't need to scream for attention. It is self-respect. That being said, the issue is about a dress code, which many schools have (just go to asia and you will see uniforms everywhere). It is not unreasonable to have a standard that everyone agrees to follow. It creates a certain environment, which most BYU-Idaho students WANT! THAT being said, this whole issue is a moot point because skinny jeans are not even against the dress code, and the school administration corrected the actions of the rogue testing center employees within a few days. This is becoming a big deal primarily because Mitt Romney is running for president. Otherwise, it would stay in the little town of Rexburg, Idaho.

Shame on you for even thinking about women while at college. That's a job for your elders. ;-)

LMFAO!!! That's too funny. These females will graduate be the biggest freaks. I went to a private Christian school and the girls grew up freaks.

Don't go to the school if you don't like the rules. Ninety nine percent of the girls wearing skinny jeans look awful in them anyway. They make girls look dumpy. You have to be a super model to look good in them.

So, the students should just roll over because some administrator is a pinhead?

What needs to be related to any student who has a problem with this: You knew there would be rules of a different flavor from most colleges when you applied to BYU. If you didn't like the rules, you shouldn't have gone there.

If you choose to go to a private, conservative, religious school, then you should abide by the rules.

It's kind of like cafeteria Christianity: if you just pick and choose which parts of your religion you're going to abide by, shouldn't you just not be that religion?

I agree. I don't think most women who wear them realize just how wide they make their hips look.

It's funny how the world finds something as this such big news. Skinny Jeans weren't banned. Maybe it would be better off if you'd all really check your sources before ridiculing our school when it wasn't the Administration that said anything. We are a private university anyway so stop hating I love attending school here. We aren't watched like hawks and we have the choice of staying or leaving the campus. We are going to school in Northern Idaho and so the more conservative look is actually a blessing more than a something that hinders us to look fashionable, but again I will say our school hasn't banned skinny jeans.

Huh?
03:46 PM on 12/08/2011
to want to look your best is nothing criminal. I dress conservative because it makes me feel good and plus my fiance likes the look. It's a blessing.

This story isn't true. It's an exaggeration and I'm surprised HP would post it.

Why is it that religion continues to merge religion and fashion, when one has absolutely nothing to do with the other.
12:59 PM on 12/08/2011
it's a school and has nothing to do with our religion. We are asked to keep ourselves presentable.

"if inappropriately form-fitting clothing is prohibited, how are the cheerleaders allowed to wear miniskirts with their panties showing?"

Because cheerleading is considered a sport at BYU and to preform it correctly it is necessary to wear a uniform that allows for freedom of movement and is approved by the NCA. If you look at other sports on campus there are other athletes that have uniforms that are more revealing, but all uniforms are worn during practice or competition. You wont see uniforms worn around campus as a fashion statement.

This isn't talking about BYU Provo but BYU-Idaho. Our sports are intermural if you want to put it that way. BYU Provo has the big sports

I think if we wanted to we might be able to understand that attire appropriate for class and attire appropriate for participating in an athletic activity are not the same. I'm no Mormon but I do appreciate their committment to civility and good taste.

Jeggings are a great look. I wear them all the time (without any behind crack showing), and I am no spring chicken.

Low-cut tops are also a great look but only in the evening on young women who don't have children (there's something unsettling and unsexy about mothers showing off suckled or once-milk-filled breasts).

Last week I watched an overweight fiftiesh woman at the grocery checkout counter with almost her entire droopy and stretched breasts showing. Not sure whether she was off the latch or desperately seeking youth.

My point is that it is not the styles that are at fault; it is the way and when they are worn.

Yeah skinny jeans are not always in bad taste, because im so scrawny they actually help my figure stand out. Thats just rude to say whoever wears skinny jeans doesn't have good taste or isnt civil.
