On the one hand, if it's a tax bill, then the only thing it should have it in are tax considerations.  Not some oil pipeline, for example.  That's just ridiculous.

On the other hand, once again Obama's press secretary comes out and says that it needs to be paid for by making the successful "pay their fair share".  Funny how my "fair share" is always my share, my neighbour's share, the  Read More...

Thank goodness the the majority do..... I notice you didn't say anything about the Alaskan pipeline since the tree huggers lost because the Great majority have better brains and are not of the "Sky is falling mentality. I also understand you don't understand my reference to the Caribou and raindeer.....do a little research and find out why. Now that may require the use of the brain.

Please, people, take a look at what's being proposed. Cantor and Bohner set this up in a way that Democrats would never vote for. The fact that over half of republican senators were against Mconnell's payroll tax cut extension even though there wasn't a hit to incomes over a million should enlighten us to the fact that republicans don't want a tax cut for working people passed. Means testing Medicare? Cutting 60%+ from the length of unemployment benefits? Making seniors and government employees pay more for health care? Seniors and working people are exactly who progressives are trying to protect, and trying to force an attack on them to extend this payroll tax cut is cynical and disingenuous.

I do not understand anyone being opposed to drug testing eligibility for collection of unemployment benefits. Most employers now make it a requirement for employment. So, those in opposition believe it is OK to be tested if you are collecting a paycheck but not OK if you are collecting money for being unemployed.

If you're going to drug test the unemployed you should test all receiving government money...from contractors to judges to senators.

This country is composed of citizens who are spoiled! We receive entitlements that are unheard of in other countries. Yes, we SHOULD take care of our Veterans whom we willingly and sometimes pointlessly send into harms way. There are other groups of people who ALSO deserve something from Uncle Sam but it surely cant be classified as "something for nothing". The problem is that MOST Americans feels as though they can get a "freebie" from Uncle Sam just because its "on the books". Many entitlements/grants, are nothing more than free money with little or no return either offered nor expected. The founders of the United States offered up their lives on the altar of sacrifice so that this country could become an Nation unto itself. Unfortunately we now elect people into leadership who have never attended a class in Ethics. They have no agenda but their own which is why we have Judges who pass outrageous edicts reflective of a lack of a sense of morality/right and wrong within themselves. This is why we have Senators and Congressmen/women who slip senseless or immoral earmarks into bills nullifying their intended purpose. This why we have Presidents who say what they really mean and think BEFORE they run for office and another on the Campaign trail and aftterwards....
................and for the most part, we the people want it that way.................

All these poison pills, and Boehner stands up in front of a microphone and says "Obama is taking a my way or the highway approach."

So WHY does ALL of Congress, both sides, get blame for something like this?

WHY does Obama have low poll numbers for the economy when the Republicans obstruct each and every bill or put something in it to hurt American Citizens?

WHY are republican voters lining up to vote for these people? Further deregulation of the banks and industries that crippled our economy, further tax cuts for the weathly and to pay for it, get rid of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid--programs that people have paid into their entire working lives? (Reform, means test, and eliminate fraud, then let's see where we need to be, but these people, wanting to give it all to Wall Street, are not the ones to do reforms!)

I heard on the news that senior citizens tend to vote republican. That makes no sense to me at all. Unless they think they've got theirs and they are safe--they are not.

Nice objective headline. The same headline could have read, "Obama, Reid, and Democrats kill jobs bill" as the Key Stone Pipeline is likely to create 5,000-20,000 permanent jobs. But the lefties here at HuffPo would never see it that way.

I have an inventive idea. American manufacturing mills were paid an hourly wage and a bonus for piece mill over quota. We the American people need to change how Congress is paid. They should be paid for the days they are in Washington-not out raising contributions. They should only be paid for each piece of legislation that they pass. This has been a do nothing Congress, so they may owe us money for taking up space. We own the buildings and pay the utilities, so they have used our space and utilities and have done nothing.

People will still blame Congress, but more importantly, they will blame the GOP. Pass a bill without all of the PORK. Just the bill and nothing else attached. Deal with each of those attachments on their own.

I find it somewhat amusing that you accuse me of posting "liberal" posts while i work for a fortune 100 company as if you know anything about my political views, on any matter.

Glad to see you're gainfully employed and i hope you enjoy what you do, but in the future. Please don't try to condensed or take little shots in my direction when you are doing the same exact thing according to you, that i am.

I'm just better and more skilled at it.

Ladies and gentlemen, your government is broken beyond repair (as if you did not know that already).

The sad truth is, all the members of Congress are busy getting rich. They have no time (or interest) in what is happening to the rest of America. When not figuring out new ways to raise money for themselves, like some sort of latter day Neros, both the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress are happily whiling away their idle hours playing political games of brinksmanship with each other as the nation burns down around them.

(And why not? A look at the number of years served by each member would suggest that American voters still tend to generally vote for the incumbents.)

Hey Media/HP......I believe the public are sick and tired of all this crap between the Dems and Rep's.....Day after day, minute after minute gets damned old after awhile, especially with the same players saying the same thing, just "in other words".....Consider getting the opinions of possible candidates from both the Independant and Green Parties for a change and let the public know their ideas. Options are also viable from all sides, to weigh and consider, not only from the same old, "has-beens.." Why not run a national vote, "online" to get an answer. I'm not saying that what I'm suggesting is correct but at least we'll all get an idea of other parties opinions. I may be wrong and if so, "so be it."
