Just annonced on CNN that Verizon has terminated their 2 dollar payment online fee, citing customer feedback! I am happy to hear that common sense has entered back into the brains of the secret roomies who have nothing better to do than to review added addons to make life a little harder for those who really need their cell phones! We can all take a bow, because if is wasn't for the contacting and expressions of disappointments..they would have gone on with their additional plans. I am not a verizon customer, but many of my friends use their service. I will never give any company or corporation access to my private accounts for auto pay. Look how many of you did this to avoid the fee, they still made out good! Take a Bow

Probably a scam on their part to make it look like they listen to their customers. Great marketing scheme.

The eighth option, namely, switching to another wireless carrier, sounds like the best option to me.

Suggestion: Pay by paper check to drive their processing costs through the roof, then when your contract is up, go with another company that isn't so greedy. Make them eat their "convenience fee."

Sure is dispicable of them when they get their money faster when paying by debit card.

Jam-up their phone lines, and tell them you are mad as hell and won't take any more! WHY NOT?
02:43 PM on 12/30/2011
FCC is looking into this.

Also a poster on HP asked this question: Can I void my contract if they changed the terms of the contract?

Finally, remember what happened to BofA when they tried to charge customers a $5 debit fee.

Verizon you are destroying your customer service and creating a mass amount of angry customers by pulling this crap. It's bad enough to lock your customers in on a 2 year contract but to pull crap like adding new fees, especially for trying to pay your already overpriced bills, is just immoral, unethical, and borderline illegal.

Here's my idea: if you really want to let Verizon know you are pissed, just send them a paper check each month so they have the extra expense of physically processing all those checks. If you know what your charges are month by month, then you can mail a check 10 days in advance of the due date each month with the proper amount; just be sure to mail it on the same day each month so that you can be sure they get it in time so you aren't charged a late fee.

I will definitely pay by paper check. the cost of the stamp is worth it in making them lose a little in automated savings.

Sounds similar to when Verizon strong armed elderly customers to renew their 20 year old expired contracts when federal law required older phones to be updated to E911 compatibility. Other carriers did not require contract renewals for the forced phone conversion, yet Verizon padded their numbers during this time in 2007.

If I were a Verizon customer, I would pay at a kiosk...in pennies.

I don't get it: the banks charge Verizon a fee to process credit/debit card payments for customers paying month-by-month on the website, but they don't charge for autopay credit/debit card payments? This doesn't make sense to me. The only way I can see Verizon justifying charging the extra "convenience fee" for month-to-month payments is if they are charged by the banks for this type of payment and NOT for the autopay payments. Otherwise, it looks to me like a greedy grab for more money they aren't entitled to from their customers. This can't be true, Verizon would NEVER try to gouge their customers... would they???
02:46 PM on 12/30/2011
You know VErizon is doing this because they don't want customers to have the ability to review their bills and dispute any fraudulent charges. Have you ever tried to fix a problem with an autopay bill? It's virtually impossible.
03:19 PM on 12/30/2011
Big reason is interest. Autopay allows verizon to charge your card earlier versus customers who wait to the last minute. Their annual sales are $100 billion. If you could pull all customer payments ahead by average of 1 week that's like having $25 billion in the bank earning interest 365 days a year. At 1% interest verizon would earn an extra $250 million per year!

Seidenberg's 2010 annual salary $2.1 million

Seidenberg's 2010 performance-based cash bonus rose 33 percent to $3.9 million

Seidenberg's 2010 above-market returns on deferred compensation were $225,458

Seidenberg's 2010 perks, (personal use of company aircraft and company contributions to savings plans and life insurance) were $707,644.

Total 2010 compensation for Verizon Communications Inc.'s CEO Ivan Seidenberg: $18.1 million

In 2010, Verizon's Revenue fell 1.2 percent to $107 billion; net income fell 48 percent to $2.5 billion from $4.9 billion, in 2009.

THE MAIN PROBLEM WITH THIS ECONOMY IS NOT BANK’S OR CORPORATE CORRUPTION (they’re our #2 problem), IT’S REWARDING FAILURES LIKE THIS, SIMPLE FOR HAVING “CEO” TACKED ONTO THE END OF THEIR NAME. THAT MY FRIENDS IS TRUELY UNAMERICAN
02:49 PM on 12/30/2011
Watching CEO's get rewarded when they screw their customers and screw up their companies is sickening. I watched a CEO screw up our publicly traded company by firing many talented managers, and he continued to get rewarded while his company and the employees continued to suffer. Recently he was FINALLY ousted, after a decade of destroying so many lives.
